LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, June 7th was the sixth official week of the DUFFERS 2005 season.  The weather was HOT and the conditions were perfect for playing a round with your friends!  And, we did have a few old friends make it out to play as guests last night.  Bill Bunevich, JZ, Tom Dickson, all former members came out to enjoy the evening.  Attendance was weak with only 36 of 48 members (75%) and 5 guests making their way to the tee box.  Member attendance for the year has fallen to 89%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds remains at 93%.

KnockDown Tournament #1
was held last night.  BONUS points were awarded to the winners.  Check out the Knockdown results at the Duffer website.

The Glenn McLaughlin Summer Solstice Bonus Points Tournament…
So, you like playing golf, you like the Duffers, you like playing Skins, and you like getting BONUS POINTS!  Then this deal is for you.  Tuesday June 21st is the longest day of the year (sun sets @ 9:04 with twilight lasting until 9:38) and on this summer solstice evening at Creekwood, the Duffers will be playing the inaugural Glenn McLaughlin Summer Solstice Bonus Points Tournament.  What is the Glenn McLaughlin Summer Solstice Bonus Points Tournament you ask?  Simply stated it’s a second nine hole Weekly Tournament played for BONUS POINTS and Skins after the origin/official nine holes is completed.  Remember when you were a kid, how cool it was to stay out late when it was light so late in the summer, well, that’s the idea behind this event.  Get out with your friends, enjoy the fresh evening air, play eighteen holes instead of nine, have an excuse for getting home a little later, and get some BONUS POINTS!  So plan on staying late and playing eighteen holes next Tuesday, June 21st.  If you don’t play the 2nd nine holes, the POINTS you miss may come back to haunt you!    J

CREEKWOOD DAY…
Deadline for payment is next Tuesday June 14th
Our friends at Creekwood G.C. are celebrating their 45th anniversary, Saturday June 25th.  It’s a great way to celebrate summers arrival and party with your friends.  For only  $70 (cash or check) you get golf (18 holes, individual stroke play), ½ cart, lunch, dinner, beer, and PRIZES!  The menu, which is catered by Alexander’s, consists of a PIG ROAST, Bar-B-Q Chicken, sausage & kraut, rigatoni, salad, and all the trimmings.  Deadline for payment is Tuesday June 14th. See Amy, in the clubhouse, for details.

SKIN RESULTS for Wk #6…
we had 36 out of the 36 players (100%) in the game for a CARRY-OVER pot of  $258…

Those wimps not playing were…
NO ONE!
Come on guys, join in the fun, it’s just like the lottery; ‘you can’t win if you don’t play’!

Low Net (31) – Dave Haeberlie - $12
Low Net (31) – Larry Lahiff - $12
Low Net (31) – Mike Milam - $12
Pin #4 – Pete White – $35
Pin #7 – Stanny – $35

Four Skins were out at $38 each
#3 – birdie – Mickey Lima
#5 – birdie – Denny Scheelk
#6 – birdie – Chris Pizzuli
#9 – birdie – Dave Haeberlie
Tradition dictates that the winners buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!

NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET!  It’s a pretty television graphic presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

This corner is EMPTY AGAIN, good work guys!   J

a friendly REMINDER…
Stay out of this column by taking a minute or two and check that the scorer in your foursome wasn’t a MORON too!

LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN GAMES…

Friday July 1, Eagle Creek Golf Course, Norwalk.

Everyone is welcome to attend. The first tee time is 9:30.
