Recap…
Tuesday, September 13th was the eighteenth official week of the
DUFFERS 2005 season. What a wonderful
evening it was at Creekwood C.C.! Sunny
blue skies, light breeze, and 80 degrees, if you missed last night, you really
missed one of the nicest nights we’ve had in a long while. This week’s attendance was light but as
expected this time of year. We had 36 of 47 members (77%) and 2 guests make their way to
the tee box. Member weekly
attendance for the year has fallen to a disappointing 86%, while total
attendance, including guests and make-up rounds has fallen to 92%.
KnockDown
#5…
The last KnockDown of the ’05 season will be held next Tuesday
(9/20). As always, you must be present
to be eligible to participate.

Next week I will start preparing for The Outing. It’s time to start thinking about whom you
want to play with and when you wish to tee off. The ‘05 Final Outing is
being held at Creekwood Country Club, Saturday, September 24th
at 9:00. Mark that date on your calendars!
As a reminder, it’s scheduled to be an all day affair. Your dues are finally coming back to you in
the form of an 18-hole net tournament.
All league members and guests will receive 18-holes (carts
included), lunch at the turn, and a steak dinner catered by Alexander’s
Restaurant. A prize ceremony will
follow dinner.
As in any Duffer event, GUESTS are welcomed and encouraged to attend. If
you wish to bring a guest to play in your foursome, the cost will be $70 (Skins
/ Blind Bogey included). Extra meals
for wives, girl friends, or significant others are available for $20
each. As a reminder, it was decided
at the League Spring Kick-off Meeting, that guests would only be allowed to
participate in the Skins and Blind Bogey games. Guest will not be included in the skill / luck events such as
proximity shots and long drives where Duffer League money is awarded.
Note: The attendees of the Spring
Kick-off Meeting decided to allow a member who is unable to attend the
Final Outing to send a ‘proxy player’ in his place. This ‘proxy player’ will only be charged the cost of golf and
cart (~$37.00) and be eligible to enter the Skin / Blind Bogey game as any
visitor will be for the cost of $10.
Former
Duffer needs our HELP… DONE!
Former Duffer member, Dan Pulice needs our help. Last winter Dan was in a terrible automobile
accident that left him in a wheel chair, on a ventilator, and with brain
damage. Dan’s health insurance is
running out and his medical bills are mounting. To assist Dan and his family there will be a fundraiser dinner /
raffle Saturday September 10th at St. Clarence pavilion. Price is approximately $55 and includes a
buffet dinner, beer, wine, music, door prizes, and a $1000 raffle. If you would like to attend the dinner /
raffle or would like more detailed information about the dinner or Dan’s
condition, see Stanny, he has a flier that goes into greater detail.
I suggest that the Duffer Golf League assist Dan, our former member, by
donating a portion of this year PRIZE POOL to help him defray his medical
bills. I propose that we contribute
$300, which would be approximately 20% of this year’s Final Outing Prize
Pool. DONE!

Come on guys, join in the fun, it’s just like the lottery; ‘you can’t
win if you don’t play’!
Tuesday’s Skins…
Low Net (30) – Ted Barrows – $32 – second week in a row!
Pin #14 – Ted Barrows – $32
Pin

Four Skins were out at $16 each…
#1 – birdie – Ted Barrows
#3 – birdie – Larry Lahiff
#4 – birdie – Ted Barrows

Tradition
dictates that the winners buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!
NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET! It’s a pretty television graphic
presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!

Stay out of this column by taking a minute or two and check that the
scorer in your foursome wasn’t a MORON too!
