LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, August 2nd was the thirteenth official week and third KnockDown of the DUFFERS 2005 season.  After last week’s rainout, it was good to be back at Duffer-dom once again.  In typical August fashion it was hot, hot, HOT, and sunny, over 90 degrees for sure!  The greens of Creekwood continue to be immaculate but it’s a shame that the course has lost a number of fairways to grub infestation.  L  I’m sure Dale and his crew will have the course back in shape as soon as possible.   This week’s attendance was the same as last with 40 of 47 members (85%) and 8 guests making their way to the tee box.  Member weekly attendance for the year remains at a disappointing 88%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds has risen to a laudable 95%.

Knock Down #3…
The third KnockDown tournament of the season was held yesterday.  As always, the player just needed to come and play, his net score was matched against the person closest to him in Total Points.  The winners of each match were awarded 25 BONUS POINTS.  Check out the KnockDown #3 results by clicking here or by going to the Duffer web page.

HANDICAPS…
are adjusted weekly!  Check out how yours has changed by going to the 05 REPORT section of the Duffer web page.

MAKE-UP ROUNDS

REMEMBER… you have just one week to play make-up rounds.  You must play the same side that the league was originally scheduled to play.  Turn your scorecards into a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to me on Tuesday.

Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are: Wayne Reisinger, Pete White, Dave Gedeon, Mike Milam, and Mark Hodgson.  If you have any suggestions or ideas about how the Skin Game can be run more efficiently please see one of them or myself.

SKIN RESULTS for Wk #13…
we had 39 out of the 40 players (98%) in the game for a pot of  $190…
The sole wimp not playing was…
Scott Wickham
Come on guys, join in the fun, it’s just like the lottery; ‘you can’t win if you don’t play’!

Tuesday’s Skins…
Low Net (29) – Paul Ebright  – $38
Pin #4 – Randy Dudinsky – $38
Pin #7 – Randy Dudinsky – $38 - I’ll have a LaBatz Blue beer Randy…    J

Three Skins were out at $25 each…
#1 – birdie – Mickey Lima
#2 – birdie – Pete White
#6 – birdie – Gerry Rapp
Tradition dictates that the winners buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!

NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET!  It’s a pretty television graphic presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

EMPTY again!   J   BUT… our President, Rick Kayfes (handicap 5) deserves a dishonorable mention after turning in a score of 59!  Apparently the disgustingly SLOW PACE of Play caused Rick to card three 10’s!

A
friendly REMINDER…
Stay out of this column by taking a minute or two and check that the scorer in your foursome wasn’t a MORON too!

FunNite #3…
is scheduled (weather permitting) for August 23rd.  If you have any thoughts or ideas about menu items or FunNite games, please address them to your FunNite/Outing Committee members...
Pat Anderson II, Bill Pfeil Jr., Brian Pfeil, and Dale Sandvick.
They are completely responsible for the FunNite activities!  I am sure they are looking forward to hearing from YOU!

LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN GAMES…
are a great way to   s t r e t c h   the summer holiday weekends and play a round of golf with friends at one of the areas FINEST golf courses.  Because of the success of Larry’s last Skin Game, he has scheduled another event.

Friday September 2, again at Eagle Creek Golf Course, Norwalk.

Everyone is welcome to attend. The first tee time is 9:30.
See Larry for further details or if you have any questions.
