Fellow Duffer;
The ‘09 practice
season starts Tuesday, March 24th. Historically, the first three rounds have been used to calculate
handicaps for the upcoming season.
Again this year, the handicaps of established members will be
calculated by using their scores from the second half of last season (including
outing) and any practice rounds played.
All members should make an effort to attend these upcoming practice
sessions so that they can establish up-to-date handicaps, familiarize
themselves with any new Duffer procedures, meet and greet new members, play in
the Skin Game before the visitor/dues restrictions kick in, check out
the new 50/50 raffle, and have a beer or two.
NEW MEMBERS must have at least three rounds played to establish a
handicap. Until they have set up that
handicap, they will be required to play as a scratch golfer (0 handicap). Once three scores have been recorded, your
Duffer handicap will be computed. Any
rounds played at Creekwood can be used toward establishing your handicap, so if
you can’t make the official practice rounds, or if the weather is bad, get out
any time and play a few rounds. If you
have any rounds to report, please indicate your full name, and the date played
on the scorecard. You can hold the
scorecards and give them to me the next Tuesday, or turn them in to one of the
Creekwood Counter Staff employees, asking that the cards be placed in the ‘DUFFER
FILE’.
DUES remain $100 and must be paid-in-full by the first official
play date, Tuesday, April 28th.
Please see our
treasurer, John Stanbrook (Stanny), he will be happy to accept your
payment. cash (American) is the preferred currency. Should you need to pay by check, please make
it payable to John Stanbrook or CASH.
The Duffers do not have a bank account, so improperly endorsed checks
will be returned to you.
If you wish to pay by mail send your check to Stanny at…

YOUR CALENDARS NOW
Our
OFFICIAL tee time is 4:20…
We have the same league ahead of us as last year that has the tee box from 3:48
- 4:06.
We can probably start as early as we want for a couple of weeks because
I don’t expect that the other leagues will be starting to play as early in the
season as we are.
At this time I estimate that we
may have as many as 54 members, although only a fraction of those have
confirmed their intentions to play.
Getting all of us around the course with the limited daylight afforded
us at this time of year has always been challenging. With that in mind, let me remind you that The Duffers advocate
the practice of READY GOLF! I
will gladly coach anyone who may need information regarding procedures related
to playing READY GOLF. Remember, your
proper position on the golf course is BEHIND the group in front of you, NOT in
front of the group behind you! Let’s
try to tee off on time and play quickly so that those of us bringing up the
rear can finish in some sort of daylight.
FYI… Sunset Times this spring are:
March 24, @ 7:45… last group had
better be off the tee by 5:35
March 31, @ 7:53… last group had better be off the tee by 5:43
April 07, @ 8:00… last group had better be off the tee by 5:50
April 14, @ 8:08… last group had better be off the tee by 5:50
April 21, @ 8:15… last group had better be off the tee by 5:55
April 28, @ 8:23… last group had
better be off the tee by 5:55 (slow play predicted due to anticipated large
turn-out)
Creekwood remains a soft-spike
facility
Greens Fees have increased to $13.25 (walking) while the cost of 9 holes
riding is now $18.75.
Thankfully, the price-o-beer remains secure at $2.25!
The Rain Check Policy remains the same.
Ask Lisa or Stanny for details if you’re curious.
Dale Sandvick…
Fellow Duffer and owner of Creekwood GC, reminds us that it is each and every
golfers responsibility and pleasure to REPLACE DIVOTS and REPAIR BALL MARKS.
As usual, this is only being posted here.
Should you know of members who don’t have Internet access or know
someone who is interested in becoming a member, please pass this information on
to them.
See you Tuesdays and “Hit ‘em straight”,
