LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, September 14th was the nineteenth and last official play date of the DUFFERS 2004 season.  Even though the official season has ended, many of your Duffer friends will continue to play on Tuesdays for FUN and SKINS and an occasional cold beverage.  So come on out and enjoy the AFTER SKINS!  Creekwood was in the very best condition I have ever seen it at this time of year, you’re missing a pleasant round of golf if you haven’t been there lately.  Attendance SUCKED again with only 31 of 44 members (70%) and 2 guests making their way to the tee box.  Member attendance for the year was a disappointing 82%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds was an acceptable 94%.

As noted above, we had 2 guests play with the Duffers last night and I’m wondering if we should re-think the leagues position on the ‘guest fee’?  I agree that expanding the Duffer experience has always been one of our goals, and the added revenue it brings to the golf course is much needed and appreciated.  If we had a league in front of us, and if we were to experience a higher percentage of member attendance, access to the tee would become quite a premium!  The dues paying members need something to show for their ‘up front expenditure’ besides a few fun nights.  Additionally, the added income of the guest fee would supplement the somewhat restricted Duffer prize pool.  Here are the numbers…

As you can see, the guests keep coming.  My question to you, the dues-paying membership, is how do you feel this effects your Duffer experience and how do you feel we should handle this subject in the future?  As always, I’m sure this subject will be discussed at the ’05 Spring Kick-off Meeting next March.  Until then, think about it and see if you can come up with an equitable solution.

The Final Outing,
see you Saturday!  Please let me know, if for some reason, your plans change and you are not able to attend.
Dale, Amy, and Alex Martinez (Alexander’s Restaurant) have gone out of their way to accommodate the Duffers and the possibility of hurricane Ivan showing up this Friday evening or Saturday morning.  As in weekly play, the weather would have to be very bad for the Duffers not to play.  If we do have a washout, we can reschedule, at no cost, to the next Saturday.  Watch your e-mail, the weather report, and the Duffer web page for further information.

Handicaps…

Skin News…

SKIN RESULTS for Wk #19
we had 32 players and a pot of  $160

Low Net (26) – Mark Hodgson -
$32 – his best round ever and moved out of consolation
Pin #12 – Ken Kalish – $32

Pin #17 – Roger Boone –  $32

Two Skins were out @ $32 each
#11 – birdie – Mark Hodgson
#18 – birdie – Corry Stone - guest in Kalish group

Seems as if the Kalish group has finally learned to enjoy the Duffer’s Skin game, but it occurs to me, they are constantly the last group out there.  :o)

Tradition dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!
NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET!  It makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

5+5+3+6+5+5+5+5+4 = 43 not 41 – Mickey Lima

a friendly REMINDER…
Stay out of this column by taking a minute or two and check that the scorer in your foursome wasn’t a MORON too!
