LEAGUE INFO…
Recap…
Tuesday, September 7th was the eighteenth play date of the DUFFERS
2004 season. With the approach of
tropical storm Frances the weather was cool and gray but pleasant and
playable. Creekwood was in the very
best condition I have ever seen it at this time of year! Attendance SUCKED
with only 29 of 44 members
(66%) and 5 guests making their way to the tee box. Member attendance for the year has now
slipped to an embarrassing 82%, while total attendance, including guests
and make-up rounds is 95%.
As noted above, we had 5 guests play with the Duffers last
night and I’m wondering if we should re-think the leagues position on the
‘guest fee’? I agree that expanding the
Duffer experience has always been one of our goals, and the added revenue it
brings to the golf course is much needed and appreciated. If we had a league in front of us, and if we
were to experience a higher percentage of member attendance, access to the tee
would become quite a premium!
The dues paying members need something to show for their ‘up front
expenditure’ besides a few fun nights.
Additionally, the added income of the guest fee would supplement the
somewhat restricted Duffer prize pool.

As you can see, the guests keep coming. My question to you, the dues-paying membership, is how do you
feel this effects your Duffer experience and how do you feel we should handle
this subject in the future? As always,
I’m sure this subject will be discussed at the ’05 Spring Kick-off Meeting next
March. Until then, think about it and
see if you can come up with an equitable solution.
The Final
Outing…
is being held at Creekwood Country Club, Saturday, September 18th
at 9:00. Mark that date on your calendars!
As a reminder, it’s usually an all day affair. Your dues are finally coming back to you in the form of an 18-hole
tournament. All league members will
receive 18-holes (carts included), lunch at the turn, and dinner
catered by Alexander’s Restaurant. A
prize ceremony will follow dinner.
As in any Duffer event, GUESTS are welcomed and encouraged to attend. If
you wish to bring a guest to play in your foursome, the cost will be $75 (Skins
/ Blind Bogey included). Extra meals
for wives, girl friends, or significant others are available for $20
each.
FYI… The menu has been
finalized. As was voted upon at
the Spring Kick-off meeting, we will be enjoying bar-b-que ribs and chicken
breasts with sides and salad.
Handicaps…
for both nine and eighteen holes, weekly tournament points, cash
winning$, flight information, and tournament eligibility are now being updated
and reported weekly. Check out the
latest numbers by clicking the REPORT
link on the main web page.

Tournament if they would come and play and WIN!
REMEMBER,
you have one week to play make-up rounds.
You must play the same side that the league was originally scheduled to
play. Turn your scorecards into a
Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer
File, or give it to me on Tuesday.
Skin News…

Let’s keep POLICING EACH

SKIN

we had 28 players and a pot of $140
Low Net (29) – Ken Kalish – $00 – his group just doesn’t seem to
want to join in
Low Net (31) – Brian Pfeil – $9
Low Net (31) – Dale Sandvick – $9
Low Net (31) – Mark Sustarsic – $9
Pin #4 – John Milam – (guest) – $28

Three Skins were out @ $18 each…

thing ($42 not won)
#3 – birdie – Denny Scheelk
#5 – birdie – Mark Sustarsic
#8 – birdie – Mark Sustarsic
Tradition dictates that they buy you a drink, or be
heckled miserably!
NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET! It makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see
the TRUE SKINS!

This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills
of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.
EMPTY THIS WEEK! CONGRATULATIONS
a friendly REMINDER…
Stay out of this column by taking a minute or two and check that the
scorer in your foursome wasn’t a MORON too!
