Tuesday, August 24^th was the sixteenth play date of the DUFFERS 2004 season.  The weather was another perfect summer evening.  Creekwood was in good condition, its nice to see the course so green at this time of year.  Attendance was horrible with only 28 of 44 members (64%) and 6 guests making their way to the tee box.  Member attendance for the year has now slipped to an embarrassing 83%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds is 96%.  

As noted above, we had 6 guests play with the Duffers last night and I’m wondering if we should re-think the leagues position on the ‘guest fee’?  I agree that expanding the Duffer experience has always been one of our goals, and the added revenue it brings to the golf course is much needed and appreciated.  If we had a league in front of us, and if we were to experience a higher percentage of member attendance, access to the tee would become quite a premium!  The dues paying members need something to show for their ‘up front expenditure’ besides a few fun nights.  Additionally, the added income of the guest fee would supplement the somewhat restricted Duffer prize pool.  Here are the numbers…

As you can see, the guests keep coming.  My question to you, the dues-paying membership, is how do you feel this effects your Duffer experience and how do you feel we should handle this subject in the future?  As always, I’m sure this subject will be discussed at the ’05 Spring Kick-off Meeting next March.  Until then, think about it and see if you can come up with an equitable solution.

The Final Outing…
is being held at Creekwood Country Club, Saturday, September 18^th at 9:00. Mark that date on your calendars!  As a reminder, it’s usually an all day affair.  Your dues are finally coming back to you in the form of an 18-hole tournament.  All league members will receive 18-holes (carts included), lunch at the turn, and dinner catered by Alexander’s Restaurant.  A prize ceremony will follow dinner.
Start thinking about who and when you want to play.  I will have a Tee Time sign-up sheet available soon.  As in any Duffer event, GUESTS are welcomed and encouraged to attend. If you wish to bring a guest to play in your foursome, the cost will be approximately $80 (Skins / Blind Bogey included).  Extra meals for wives, girl friends, or significant others are available for $20 each.   


Handicaps…
for both nine and eighteen holes, weekly tournament points, cash winning$, flight information, and tournament eligibility are now being updated and reported weekly.  Check out the latest numbers by clicking the REPORT link on the main web page.

Apparently, Tommy will no longer be assisting us with The Skins Games entries.  From this time on, the Skins Game will revert back to the honors; self serve method that we used in the past.  Please be sure to mark yourself paid when you deposit your $5 entry fee into the Skin Box.
