FUN NIGHT #3…

LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, August 10th was the fourteenth play date of the DUFFERS 2004 season.  The weather was another perfect summer evening.  Creekwood was in great condition and the greens were fast and true!  Attendance again was DISAPPOINTING with only 33 of 44 members (75%) and 5 guests (although only 4 paid their skins fee?) making their way to the tee box.  Member attendance for the year has now slipped to an embarrassing 84%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds was increased to an excellent 96%.

As noted above, we had 5 guests play with the Duffers last night and I’m wondering if we should re-think the leagues position on the ‘guest fee’?  I agree that expanding the Duffer experience has always been one of our goals, and the added revenue it brings to the golf course is much needed and appreciated.  If we had a league in front of us, and if we were to experience a higher percentage of member attendance, access to the tee would become quite a premium!  The dues paying members need something to show for their ‘up front expenditure’ besides a few fun nights.  Additionally, the added income of the guest fee would supplement the somewhat restricted Duffer prize pool.  Here are the numbers…

As you can see, the guests keep coming.  My question to you, the dues-paying membership, is how do you feel this effects your Duffer experience and how do you feel we should handle this subject in the future?  As always, I’m sure this subject will be discussed at the ’05 Spring Kick-off Meeting next March.  Until then, think about it and see if you can come up with an equitable solution.

Handicaps…
for both nine and eighteen holes, weekly tournament points, cash winning$, flight information, and tournament eligibility are now being updated and reported weekly.  Check out the latest numbers by clicking the REPORT link on the main web page.

Fun Night #3…
is scheduled for next Tuesday, August 17th (weather permitting).  The menu will consist of burgers with the usual and customary picnic fare.  See Pat Anderson or Bill Pfeil Jr. for Fun Game information.  I believe that we will be playing some sort of regular formatted game so that all weekly procedures will be maintained.  Missed scores should be made up and will be held against your attendance record.

Skin News…
Apparently, Tommy will no longer be assisting us with The Skins Games entries.  From this time on, the Skins Game will revert back to the honors; self serve method that we used in the past.  Please be sure to mark yourself paid when you deposit your $5 entry fee into the Skin Box.
IF YOU ARE NOT MARKED AS PAID, YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED TO BE PARTICIPATING IN THE GAME!

Tradition dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!
NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET!  It makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

7+6+9+4+5+5+4+6+8 = 54 not 55 – Paul Ebright
5+6+6+7+6+6+3+4+6 = 49 not 44 – Mike Milam – (for a second week in a row!)
4+6+6+4+6+5+4+4+8 = 47 not 48 – Brian Pfeil

a friendly REMINDER…
Stay out of this column by taking a minute or two and check that the scorer in your foursome wasn’t a MORON too!
