FUN NIGHT #3… what do YOU think?
LEAGUE INFO…
Recap…
Tuesday, August 3rd was the thirteenth play date of the DUFFERS 2004
season. The weather was a typical hot
August summer evening. Attendance was
less DISAPPOINTING this week with 34 of 44 members (77%) and 9 guests
making their way to the tee box. Member
attendance for the year has now slipped to an embarrassing 84%, while total
attendance, including guests and make-up rounds was increased to an excellent 96%.
As noted above, we had 9 guests play with the Duffers last
night and I’m wondering if we should re-think the leagues position on the
‘guest fee’? I agree that expanding the
Duffer experience has always been one of our goals, and the added revenue it
brings to the golf course is much needed and appreciated. If we had a league in front of us, and if we
were to experience a higher percentage of member attendance, access to the tee
would become quite a premium!
The dues paying members need something to show for their ‘up front
expenditure’ besides a few fun nights.
Additionally, the added income of the guest fee would supplement the
somewhat restricted Duffer prize pool.

As you can see, the guests keep coming. My question to you, the dues-paying membership, is how do you feel
this effects your Duffer experience and how do you feel we should handle this
subject in the future? As always, I’m
sure this subject will be discussed at the ’05 Spring Kick-off Meeting next
March. Until then, think about it and
see if you can come up with an equitable solution.

REMEMBER, you have one week to play make-up rounds. You must play the same side that the league
was originally scheduled to play. Turn
your scorecards into a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff Member, asking them to
place it in the Duffer File, or give it to me on Tuesday.
SKIN RESULTS for Wk
#13…
Skin
News…
Apparently, Tommy will no longer be assisting us with The Skins Games
entries. From this time on, the
Skins Game will revert back to the honors; self serve method that we used in
the past. Please be sure to mark
yourself paid when you deposit your $5 entry fee into the Skin Box.
IF YOU ARE NOT MARKED AS PAID, YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED TO BE
PARTICIPATING IN THE GAME!
The Skin
results below are preliminary, depending on the accuracy of the
prize pool, the players’ list, and the pin shot sheets.
It looks like we had 38 players (29 members + 9 guests) for an
estimated pot of $190
Low Net (32) – Brian Pfeil – $38 – plays himself back into the
Championship/Winners Tournament Will he be able to maintain his eligibility by
not missing another play date this season?
Pin #12 – ?? – $38
Pin #17 – ?? – $38
Five POTENTIAL Skins were out @ $15 each…
but a possible winner was not marked as participating in the game?
#11 – eagle – Norm Dickson (guest) – not marked as playing, but as a guest
I must assume he paid
#13 – birdie – Pat Anderson – finally gets his first skin of the year
#14 – birdie – Roger Boone
#17 – birdie – Dave (pin shot?) Harley
#18 – birdie – John Doker {(guest), whose guest was he?}
Tradition dictates that they buy you a drink, or be
heckled miserably!
NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET! It makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see
the TRUE SKINS!
MORON’S
CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills
of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.
4+4+4+5+4+6+5+4+4 = 40 not 39 – Mike Milam – (even on a pre-play round?)
4+6+3+6+5+7+4+4+6 = 45 not 44 – Bill Bunevich
6+6+4+8+4+6+5+3+5 = 47 not 48 – Bob Kohtz
6+5+4+5+5+6+6+5+5 = 47 not 46 – Dale Sandvick
4+6+5+7+5+7+5+6+6 = 51 not 50 – Pete White
52 – 10 = 42 not blank – Dale Mercer
This past week may have been the most moronic week in Duffer
history! Maybe it was a result of
‘Duffer Shock’ caused by the membership having to check off their own names on
the Shin Sheet, maybe it was the fear of placing $5 in a box instead of in
Tommy’s hand, or maybe it was the discomfort of having a new starter down by
the tee. At any rate, suck it up boys;
I’m sure it will be better next week!
a friendly REMINDER…
Stay out of this column by taking a minute or two and check that the
scorer in your foursome wasn’t a MORON too!
