Tea Cup Candles

This is so much easier than you think and much less expensive than believed. The nice thing is, you can get everyone involved and use it as a project for your meeting.

hint:  Can be reported as recycling in community service.

Needed:
  • Used Candles
  • wicks
  • microwaveable bowl or Double Boiler
  • newspaper (to Cover table)
  • bowl or sink of Warm Water
  • Scented Potpourri (optional)
  • Towels or Paper Towels
  • Used Tea Cups (porcelain, China, etc.)
  • Stove or Microwave
  • Plastic Spoon

Directions:

Step 1:  Place tea cups in bowl or sink of warm water.
Step 2:  Melt candle wax in a double boiler or in microwave.
Step 3:  Add Scented Potpourri to wax and stir with plastic spoon.
Step 4:  remove 1 tea cups from water, wipe dry with towel.
Step 5:  Pour hot wax into tea cup, add wick.
Step 6:  Let cup sit undisturbed until wax is set.
Step 7  Sell at your next event for $2 - $5.

Just a Note:

The wicks are the hardest to set. Children wil have a hard time with this part. You may want to have some extra adult voluntters to aid in this step.

You can also create different designs in the was by adding colored wax & dripping cold waterinto wax. There are many ways to alter the appearance of the candle wax. Experimentation is always fun, try new things, molds, etc.

Used tea cups are the best to use, the older the better. They make great gifts, fundraisers and are fairly simple to make.
