On Sunday, 06/04/06 Sam will be going in for some more chemo treatments. His hair is steadily falling out more and more. He got his head shaved again for this reason. He will not be swimming on Sunday for two reasons: I came down with a sinus infection (it's almost over by now, but still--I'm not taking any chances) and don't want to risk making Sam worse. Also, he will be having his chemo anyways, so. . . He is still getting his exercise in and hopefully next Sunday, 06/11/06 I will be able to post some pictures of him doing his routine.

Sam got some more swim-time in yesterday. He and I simply had a fun time. He did a few laps, but nothing strenuous. He will be doing more fitness-related activities on Thursday. I will have his swim between 5 and 10 laps. He will also be doing some exercises for arm strength. Other exercises will aid in building his leg strength. On Friday, he will be going in for another session of chemo treatments.

Yesterday, Sam had a great hour of swimming exercises. Because he had previously done some other indirect exercise, I did not have him do the particular kind of training I had prepared. He did about four to six laps with the traditional "over-under" stroke using both arms and legs. He did about the same in just arms and only two or three with just legs. He is getting thinner. His stamina is increasing very quickly. I also have him doing "water push-ups" so he doesn't have to strain with regular ones. Water boyancy aids his arms. I also have him doing assisted water stretching to help promote muscular flexibility in his groin, hamstring, and calf muscles. Next time, maybe Tuesday, I will get even more and better pics of some other routines.

Today Sam and I attended our church at CrossRoads. It was a great service, visit the link above to hear the sermon. He is looking better everyday, and that's a sure blessing from God. After church, Sam and I did some water exercises back at my house. No, I didn't get any pictures this time . . . sorry. This time we mostly had a fun time, no real routine work-out. Just some fun water time. Maybe during the week or in two Sundays or so we can do another water work-out.

(This is a late up-date, my apologies) I had Sam do a rather heavy work-out. It consisted of about five "real push-ups" and a few kinds of situps. He felt he was ready and so I asked if he wanted. He also stretched really well (no matter how much weight lifting or push-ups and sit-ups you can do, stretching is the guaranteed way to build strength.) I helped him stretch his calves, hamstrings and inner-thighs. The assisted stretching will help him progress a little quicker.
