(Nicky and Jack at the booth are looking for signs of her parents anywhere near by.)

Nicky:

Jack:

Nicky! (She walks off) so kiddo, what do you think, I’m a being a butt head? (She nods her head.) (He Laughs) Okay, so you want something to eat? (She points at him) What? (He comes closer and she touches his head.)

(In an instant Jack is taken into a vision.)

Scene 4

(Jack sits down he is sitting with Nicky and her brother are talking, this is about two years ago.)

Jack:

How’d I’d get here. (He sees Nicky.) Hey Nicky! (She walks right through him.) I’m dead! I’m dead!!!

Mattie:

You’re not dead.

Jack:

You can talk?

Mattie:

Only in my mind.

Jack:

Well what’s your name?

Mattie:

Mattie, this is Nicky’s house, two years ago.

Jack:

Why are we?

Mattie:

Shhh. (She points to them.)

Nicky:

I’m sorry, can’t you just forget about it? (Tearful.)

James:

He walked out on us when we were babies! You didn’t even know him.

Nicky:

(Wiping her face) But I want to. Is that so wrong? (angry/sad) I want to know who he was! Why he left? Was it me? (She breaks down and he hugs her, their mother walks in.)

Nina:

I did the best I could by you to, you want your father? (She grabs her) Do you want him? (She slaps her and she breaks down crying.) Wake up little girl, he doesn’t want you.

Nicky:

I just want to know why! (She goes to strike her again, but Barney Grabs her arm.)

Barney:

Nina (her face turns red):

Barney (Picks her up):

Mom just needs some Coffee and maybe a lock on that special cabinet of hers.

Nicky’s V.O.:

Scene 5

(Nicky stands above Jack and when he notices her he screams in shock and both jump back.)

Nicky:

Whoa, what up?

Jack:

But, I was in the and then she spoke!

Nicky:

She can’t speak Jack, (They just look at each other.) Okay fine you know I’m sorry, it’s just that…

Jack:

Your dad left as a kid and you want to know why.

Nicky:

How’d you know that?

Jack (Pointing to Mattie):

Cause she told me!

(Mattie just smiles and goes on playing.)

Nicky:

Okay Jack that’s not even funny anymore out of all people I didn’t think that you’d…

Jack:

I’m not lying she like did it in her head or something.

Nicky:

I think you hit your head! Jack think logically, do you honestly say that this little girl told you all of that?

Jack:

Yes.

Nicky:

You seem series about this.

Jack:

Nicky:

All right well that’s pretty strange how you knew that thing about my dad, but hmm I got it James told you and you, you just forgot! That’s what it is! You just forgot!

He didn’t tell me anything, I haven’t seen him in a long time either.

Okay then I got it we both hit are heads and we’ve been walking around with concussions and now our memory is jogging itself.

(Fi and Annie come running up to them.)

Fi:

Mom’s concert’s going to start soon

You guys still haven’t found her parents?

Nicky:

No, but he seems to think that she’s psychic.

Fi:

Annie:

What do you mean?

Jack:

Okay, okay I know it sounds crazy, but like she took me inside her head.

Fi:

Jack:

Nope, I’m series I think… Wait, aren’t you going to jump in with me about this?

Jack:

Exactly, you’re always jumping into stuff like this.

Fi:

Annie:

Look maybe there’s a reason why she’s talking to you.

Fi:

Okay how bout this we go to the concert and maybe later we’ll figure it out.

Nicky:

Um, you guys go ahead, I’ll catch up with you.

Jack:

You sure? I promise to tone it down a little.

Nicky:

Yeah I’m going to see if I can find her parents, okay. I’ll see you in a bit.

(They all walk ahead; Nicky pulls out a letter from her pocket and reads it.)

Nicky:

Hey I just, (Noticing her sadness, change in attitude.) something wrong?

Nicky:

Jack (Grabbing her arm):

Nicky you can tell me.

Nicky:

You wouldn’t understand.

Jack:

How can I, if you won’t even give me a chance to?

Nicky:

Why should I, you’ll probably just twist my words like everyone else.

Jack:

There’s a reason, she showed me what she did, right?

Nicky:

Yes there is, I just don’t believe it.

Jack:

Nicky:

Jack, do you remember when you were like six and you lost your voice?

Jack:

Nicky:

Nicky:

Your body makes up for what it’s lacking if your right about this girl, then she can see things and if she can..

Jack:

Nicky:

She sees what it doesn’t have to do with me, it has to do with, well it’s not important.

Jack:

It is, if she showed me, Nicky if you’d been with us on the road in the last few years then you’d understand I don’t usually get into this stuff, but there are just things you can’t explain.

Nicky:

If you’d known anything about me Jack, I don’t speak about anything, even stuff I can’t explain. I’m not this illogical person I have to know what’s going on, I’m not like you okay! I don’t believe in the paranormal, I’ll find a logical explanation for this I just don’t know how!(She leaves, the scene transitions to later that night.)

Scene 6

(At the hotel room, it is later that night Fi is typing on her lap top, her website instead of "So Weird" is called "Fiona’s Page" a very typical and average page compared to her other site. Jack comes in the room he notices change in her to, but he doesn’t say anything, he just sits right next to her and looks at her.)

Fi:

What?

Jack:

I’m just noticing how much you’ve changed.

Fi:

Well I am sixteen, we do that Jack.

I don’t know it’s just that, since when do you wear make up?

Fi:

Like I said I’m sixteen.

Jack:

Yeah, Fi, this weird stuff. Why did you let it go?

Fi:

What are you talking about?

Jack:

You used to be into all this paranormal junk and now you’re into fashion. (Reference to a page on her web.)

Fi:

You know that’s funny Jack, I don’t remember any of that, I just remember us arguing a lot. I don’t know maybe I was, but after a while I forgot.

Jack:

Well I’m gonna go get some sleep, it’s good to have you back though Fi.

Fi:

Thanks. (She continues typing.)

Scene 7

(Jack lays his head on the pillow of his hotel room and then is immediately drawn into a dream; it is the sequence of "The Muse", but in different format.)

Molly:

Time to go son.

Jack:

Yeah okay, give me a moment. (Jack goes walking a long the beach.)

(Farther over Annie and "The Muse" are talking.)

Annie:

So you were supposed to get Jack?

The Muse:

Yeah, but eventually everything worked out.

Annie:

So I guess I’ll being seeing more of you.

The Muse:

Nope I’ve actually done my research this time; you’ll be seeing a lot more of her.

Annie:

It’s just the picture of the back of someone’s head.

The Muse:

In Time, you’ll see.

Annie:

What’s that supposed to mean?

The Muse:

Scene 8

(The scene changes and then Jack starts to hallucinate that there’s a lot of yelling. Nicky is yelling at him, and the scene is disoriented and funny.)

Nicky:

You’re a disgrace! What kind of child would do something like this? You’re not allowed to go anywhere, you insignificant little…

(Jack can’t take it, he screams until he wakes up.)

Scene 9

(He wakes up in his hotel room, and everything is disoriented, as he gets up and walks around the hotel room, Nicky is outside waiting for him.)

Nicky (As he gets up and has struggle moving.):

Jack? Jack what happened? (Sitting him down on the floor.)

Jack:

Your mom’s an alcoholic isn’t she?

Yeah, she is…

Jack:

But there’s more, right?

Nicky:

Yes.(She helps him up and they walk out of the hotel hall.)

Scene 10

(It’s still dark outside, but they are sitting on the lighted patio.)

Jack:

So where’s Mattie?

Nicky:

She’s spending the night with my brother, you were right. Everyone was right, her parents split town. When I went down there, they contacted their relatives and the last time anyone saw her parents was four months ago.

Jack:

So where has Mattie been?

Nicky:

Around, there have been a lot of cases in which people reported her and the thing she’s shown them, but again no sign of her parents.

Jack:

How does she survive?

Nicky:

I don’t know, but I’m scared.

Jack:

Why?

Nicky:

Why wouldn’t I be? You can’t tell me this is just a little bit strange to you.

Jack:

Nicky, with what I’ve scene nothing is strange to me.

Nicky:

(Smiles and then goes back to calm) Jack I haven’t been perfectly honest with you.

Jack:

Nicky:

My dad wrote me, Jack my dad wants to see me.

Jack:

That’s great, so why don’t you go see him?

Nicky:

I would like to, but she doesn’t want me to.

She needs help; more then you can give her. Now you have to help yourself.

Nicky (Wiping her face):

Jack:

(tapping him) Jack.

(They both look up to see Mattie wading around the pool.)

Jack:

I thought she was supposed to be with your brother.

James:

(Mattie hums to herself and then she falls into the pool.)

Nicky and Jack:

Mattie!

(They both run to the pool Jack jumps in and gets her, when they touch hands he is taken into another vision. This time it is about himself, Nicky screams from the side trying to reach both of them, James runs to her side.)

Scene 11

(Jack is taken back to his first home; the cabin on the hill.)

Jack:

Why did you take me here?

Mattie:

Well your going to help Nicky right?

Jack:

Of course.

Mattie:

You have to help yourself first before you can help others

Nicky’s Voice:

Jack! Jack! Can you hear me????

Mattie:

There’s a lot of things that’s bugged you over the summer, but I can help you.

Jack:

How?

Mattie:

This is your future.

(In the vision Jack sees himself sitting down at a table studying.)

Jack:

I’m all alone.

Mattie:

That’s what your scared of.

Jack:

So it is going to happen.

Mattie:

Just watch.

(Nicky walks in she’s older and she’s holding a coffee, she sits right by him and hands him the cup. You only see the real Jack and Mattie’s reaction, they both looked pleased.)

Scene 12

(Nicky is wet and she’s trying to wake Jack up, James also wet has Mattie wrapped up into a towel.)

Nicky:

Jack! Jack! (Jack Coughs) Oh thank god.

James:

Hey man you okay?

Jack:

Yeah I am now.

Nicky:

Don’t do that!!!

Jack:

Sorry I didn’t mean to scare you like that.

(Ned comes out with him is Nicky’s mother)

Ned:

What in the heck are you guys doing out here?!

Nina:

Nicky, just cause your mad you don’t have to drag your brother into this, you could have killed him, Jack and that little girl.

James:

She didn’t do anything mom… (Nicky stops him.)

Nina:

Are you trying to turn him against me?

Nicky:

I’m not trying to turn anyone against you! I love you mom, but you need help and so do I.

Nina:

Brat! Every time you always have to cause something.

Nicky:

I’m not trying to cause anything I used to think you blamed me for no reason, but now I know you blame yourself and that’s why you don’t like having me around because I remind you of me.

Nina (Breaking down):

I do the best I can! And sometimes I think it’s not good enough

Nicky:

Mom I love you, but a lot of times I also hate you, a lot of times I wish you weren’t my mother, but everything you try to give us, you don’t have to. You don’t sing anymore and I don’t why cause you used to be so Happy when you did, it’s like your trying to give us the world, but you cant.

Nina:

Then what am I supposed to do?

James:

Be there… For me, and Nicky.

Ned:

Nina there are a lot of places where you can go to get help.

Nina:

I think I need help.

Ned:

We will be glad to help you find it.

(Molly and Irene are out on the balcony.)

Molly:

What are you guys doing out here?

Irene:

It’s so late come up. (It starts to rain.)

Fi:

Now that’s a disaster.

Annie:

Guys come in here!

Nina (Smiling):

Were coming, but first I have to go home and clean out a few things.

Nicky:

Can I help you?

Nina:

Sure (Everyone starts to go upstairs and Jack is left.) I’ll wait for you in the car.

Jack:

So your mom’s going to get help.

Nicky:

Yeah, but so am I.

Jack:

Good.

Nicky:

You’re soaking wet Jack, you better go inside.

Jack:

Yeah… (He starts to head in and she starts to leave.) Nicky?

Nicky:

Yes Jack?

Jack:

It’s really good to see you.

Nicky:

You to. [Before he leaves] Jack?

Jack:

Yeah Bickster?

Nicky:

Um, I’m really sorry for acting strange around you, I mean this weird stuff if you want to believe in that I’ll respect you for that.

Jack:

You really think I’m strange?

Nicky:

No I just think stuff just follows you.

Jack:

You know NickyBicky I’m starting to think that to. (They both leave.)

Scene 13

*The next day Molly finishes "Origami" at a local club and announces something very special.*

Molly:

Thank you and now for a special treat a very old friend of mine is here to perform with me tonight. You know her as Nina Bari I knew her as Nina Min; here we go with "Ain’t no mountain High enough."

(Everyone is delightfully surprised and Molly starts, Nina comes out at her part.)

Molly:

Nina (Looking at Nicky):

Jack V.O.:

Okay I think I’ve explained enough.

Scene 14

(Jack is at his computer typing, he has created a website called, "Life is Totally Crazy." He is typing on his website, about what happened.)

Jack V.O.:

Well all you need to know is that,

Nicky and her mom worked things out,

She’s getting help,

The letter from her dad was a disconnection,

But she’s not giving up hope.

Nina asked my mom if while she was recovering Nicky could come on the road with us.

Looks like the girls number will be soon out numbering all of us.

As far as Mattie goes,

We put her in an adoption agency,

But she disappeared three days later,

I think something higher has to do with her,

Place in life and she’s meant to help others.

Life on the road is resuming to getting back to normal,

But with a slight role reversal.

Fi:

Life is Totally Crazy? Wow and You thought I was strange?

Annie:

Yeah Jack Phone Home Jack, Phone Home.

Jack:

(Pulls out a water gun from underneath his sweat shirt.) Okay.

Fi:

You wouldn’t!

Annie:

That’s just cruel.

Jack:

Exactly. (He starts pumping it and he chases them around the room with the water gun, the scene goes out looking from the outside. Mattie watches them and then she leaves.)
