RULES FOR WASHER BOARD
Object of the game:To be the first player to reach 21 pointsComponents:2 washerboards set 10 feet apart, 3 black washers, 3 white washers. Washers:There are two types of washers depending on whether you use Beach rules or Mountain rules.

Boards:
The boards are made of pine. No finish of any kind should be applied. The boards measure4�x1�x4�. There are three holes in the board located 15� apart. The center of the first hole is 12� from the front. A rope should be connected to the boards that is 10� long. This allows the boards to be set at exactly 10� repeatedly.
Play:
The player with the least experience throws first or the winner of the previous game throws second. In a 2 player game, opponents throw from the same end. Players alternate ends after each set of throws. In a 4 player game, team members throw from opposite ends. Players throw from the same end throughout the entire game. Each player throws 3 washers in an attempt to score points or to cancel opponents points. The team who scored the last points or the most points on the prior turn, throws first. After all washers are thrown, play switches to the opposite board.Scoring:
- Mountain Rules: The first, second and third holes count 1,3 and 5 points respectively. A washer completely in the hole scores the point for the respective hole. No other points are awarded for any other case. A washer knocked into a hole by an opponent counts.
- Beach Rules: Same as beach except the holes are 1,2 and 3 points.
Canceling:
Any washer thrown into a hole where a point has already been scored by an opponent cancels the points of both washers. Any additional throw into the same hole counts as points.- Example 1: If team A throws 1 washer in the 2 hole and team B throws a washer into the 2 hole and the 3 hole, team B scores 3 points. The washers thrown into the 2 hole cancel each other.
- Example 2: If team A throws 1 washer into the 1 hole and team B throws 2 washers into the 1 hole, team B scores 1 point.
Winning the game:
The first player to reach exactly 21 points wins with the following guides. The player must �stick � all washers following the throw on which he achieved 21. Stick means that the washer must stay on the board. If the remaining washers are not �stuck�, the players score is reduced by the amount of points scored on that turn.- Example 1: A players score is 18. The player throws a 3 on his first throw. The player then throws a stick on the second throw. A 2 on the third throw. The players new score is 13.(18-3=15, 15-2-13.)
- Example 2: A players score is 20. The player throws a miss. Then the player throws a 1, then a stick. The players score is 21.
There are no ties! If the player throwing first gets 21, it is up to the second thrower to cancel player 1�s score. If player 2 can not cancel he loses no matter what.
