Just got back from my 2100 mile inaugeral trip. Bike ran great, I have a bad back and this Cavalcade with the air suspension and backrest is the way to travel! What is the H/S radio push button for? It also has running lights, (extra headlamp in the engine case guards) but they are not wired. Where should I wire them into? High beams? When I picked up the bike the previous owner told me that the clock and the gear display portion on the LCD read out did not display. I have gone to one Suzuki dealer and he said that a replacement display would cost $ 412.00. Has anyone out there developed any similar problems with there LCD display, and if so how did they solve the problem? Last of all, does anyone know of a better set of replacement front brake lines (there are 3 altogether)such as braded stainless steel reinforced lines or higher quality replacements? With the one's that are on the bike now, you are able to easily touch the lever against the rubber handle bar grip on the first pull, and after two or three pulls, the pressure increases to what it should be on the first pull, which allows the lever o only come within approximately 3/4" from touching the rubber handle bar grip. The front and rear brake pads and calipers have been completely rebuilt and or replaced in late 1999. The previous owner says that this condition exists (the front brake system lever bottoms out on the first pull of the lever against the rubber handl bar grip and feels spongy)only when it is cold out. This condition seems to all but disapear when the outside air tempature gets above 70 degrees, and doesn't bother for the rest of the summer. The brake system has been bleed properly and the previous ow er says that the dealer/mechanic says that this condition exists because of the original brake line hoses being more pliable and or weak and worn out. But upon close examination, all of the lines appear to be in fine condition and do not even show the sli htest sign of expanding or bulging during repeated lever pumping/hard pressure is exerted on them. And there are absolutely no leaks to be found anywhere. The only thing that I can think of is, could it be bad break fluid? I didn't think to ask the previous owner if the old fluid was replaced when the brake service was performed in late 1999, but one would naturally assume that this would be the proper thing to do at that time? I am supposed to pick the bike up this Friday and ride it home. I believe that I got a great deal on this bike. Even though it is the LX model, It is loaded to the gills with every possible accessory that was available. It only has 22,444 miles on it The only other thing that is wrong with it other than the LCD display and front breaks (mentioned above) are a few scratchs on the windshield. I will replace the windshield at some point. Does anyone out there have any advice as to what would be the best way to go on this, and what would be the best height to go with? I am 5'8" and I think that I would rather be able to look over the top rather than through the windshield. I have been told that it is very tiring to look through some of the windshields for long periods of time due to their optical imperfect clarity. If this is an incorrect assumption with this model of bike and or if there is a replacement windshield available, I would deeply appreciate any feed back about this. I have been told that there s a venting system available through J.C. Whitney similar to the one that comes as standard equipment on the Gold Wing SE model windshield, that can be open or closed so as to allow better cooling on those hot days, and that when it is opened, reduces a c rtain amount of back draft? I appologize for the lengthy comments, but I would really appreciate any help with these questions. I will close for now and try to find out how to join your fine organization. It has been in Nrew England and Eastern Canada several times. My trips to the USA included 2 trips to the Grand Canyon and 3 t ips to Rocky Mountain National Park. I have had it up to 13,000 feet but so far the only time it has been below sea level is the Chesapeake Bay bridge, maybe Death Valley will happen. Absolutely the best Touring Bike ever built. I live in a small town called Shediac just 15 minutes from Moncton ,New brunswick,not that far from Maine.If your ever up this way for a drive I would like to see your motorcycle,we'll give you tour around the area.It is an area largly known for its lobster and fine beaches.
