Writing Arenas
  • Discussion - each week you will have one or more questions to answer and post to the discussion area.  You will be expected to participate in this arena by responding to others' postings as well.
  • Journal - each week you will be given one or more journal writing prompts.  You will maintain a Writer's Journal throughout this course.   This Writer's Journal will be submitted to the instructor at the end of the course.
  • Model - each week you will be given one or more writing models.  These models will be submitted to your instructor by Friday of each week.  A copy of each model will be included in your Writer's Journal.  It is suggested that students read and become familiar with the Assignments at the beginning of this course.  Students may, and in fact, are encouraged to "work ahead" and submit Writing Models as soon as completed.  You do not have to wait until the Writing Model is due.

Students are encouraged to complete textbook activities in your Writer's Journal even though they may not be assigned as a part of this course.  Remember, a good writer "writes" - all the time and every where!

Scoring Guide

Discussion Area - 25%
Writer's Journal - 25%
