First, some preparation and a visit home...from 7.20.04 to 8.25.04...
...and then, the trip...starting 8.26.04...
Travel updates: (hint: new information is at the bottom of the page) I'm somewhere in Asia...from 27 Aug 2004 to 14 Jan 2005. 1 Sept 2004: Hold on! Plans have changed! The fastest internet connection in Thailand would still have me sitting here all day! I have switched to blog for now. Here is the site: http://www.myspace.com/novusordo 10 Sept 2004 (But in Thailand, it's 2547): Pictures of Thailand are now available; click on the above link, then view more pics ... I will continue to use my blog exclusively, due to time constraints. On the 11th I will fly to Bangalore, India, and volunteer work will begin on the 13th. For the three weeks that follow, I may or may not have internet access. 15 Nov 2004 (But in Kathmandu, it's 2061): Just a quick non-blog-based update. I've been in Nepal for a little over 3 weeks now. Injuries sustained so far? (1) Walked into a rusty pole; gash on left shin doesn't seem to be healing so well. (2) Fell in mud puddle; bruise located next to gash. (3) Lice. (4) Nasty mucus-based cold. (5) Lice shampoo did not kill the strongest of the lice. (6) Chipped tooth on rock cleverly hidden in food. But the greatest injury of all? (7) The fake re-election of Mr. GWB. Oh, the pain. Soon I will be retreating back to India, a country that was not trying this hard to kill me, to try to heal from catastrophe number seven. Meanwhile, America, please investigate the vote. And continue to refer to my blog (link posted above) for detailed information on my travels. I will post pictures of India soon, but extensive computer use causes glaucoma, so please be patient. Thank you for your cooperation. 11 Jan 2005: I can't believe my time in India is coming to a close. I can't believe I'm going to Tanzania on Friday. I can't believe I still don't really know whether or not I can get a visa at the airport in Dar Es Salaam. Well, deportation is probably not the worst thing I've encountered so far. And on day two of my malaria pills I already forgot to take them, so maybe my time in Africa is not meant to be. But I'm going to give it a try. The plan is to take a look around Tanzania a little bit, then head overland to Johannesburg, South Africa (-through Zambia and Botswana, maybe? or Mozambique? it's funny; I dreamed about travelling the world for 24 years, but I spent almost none of that time planning it-), where I'll be working in an orphanage for a few months. 13 April 2005: Well, here I am in Cape Town. Many things have come to pass and soon I will be in New York to tell you all about it. I love you and I miss you but I will be with you soon. 25 May 2005: Well, still here in the tri-state area. Getting a new tattoo and then heading south. Guess where I'm going? It's funny... 27 May 2005: Welcome to Washington D.C. 15 June 2005: Finished re-adjusting to godawful American life. Retired from ecopolitical-psychology career. Began looking for real job.
In the event that I cannot access this web page, I will switch to either mass emailings or that old standby, postcards. If postcards fail, all I've got is my telepathy. Updated 15 June 2005 in Trenton, NJ
