Coming
soon:
A photo tour of the Radio Canada International Shortwave Transmitting Station, located in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada. RCI broadcasts in seven languages to Eastern, Central and Western Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Africa and the United States. The transmitter facilities include eight 250KW and three 100KW transmitters, and 27 antennas. The beginnings of the tour may be found here. Note that it is still very under construction. I'd say that it's only about 10-15% complete. I have a few sample images here, which will be included, as the site is developed. In addition, I hope to have a number of feature sections, such as dropping a section of the antenna curtains for repair, and a sort of photo diary of the replacement of two of the transmitters, which is already under way. Update September 2000: I've come up with a Perl script which greatly streamlines the development of the site. |
