Steps in the Curriculum Development Process
1.   Conduct a Needs Assessment:  what has to be done?  why? what resources are available?

2.   Consider the Standards that need to be addressed:  NEASC? COP? NCTM?  NSSB? SCANS?

3.   Align your philosophy with the school's philosophy and mission statement.

4.   Do an Occupational Analysis:  find out
why you are teaching what you are teaching.

5.   Write the Course Description.

6.   Prepare your Task Listing:  modify others if appropriate, write where necessary.

7.   Validate your Task Listing:  use a DACUM Panel or your Advisory Committee.

8.   Develop a set of Performance Standards for each task.

9.   Use your Performance Standards to construct a Performance Test.

10.  Integration is important and required by law.  Design integrated Learning Activities.

11.  Document Instructional Activities that work with your competencies.
Things like field trips, long term projects, reports, etc.

12.  Format all of your material in a "form appropriate for the school (NEASC, 2001)."
