Curriculum and Career Plans

After years of working in the banking and telecommunications industry, I decided to pursue a more challenging career as a nursing professional.  To me, nursing is a great career that combines physical and intellectual skills, as well as the capability to give service and compassion to other people.  There is also a higher demand for nurses in the United States.  The working hours for nurses are more flexible than office jobs, and this will enable me to spend more time with my family.  A nursing career also provides more job opportunities for a more stable future for me and my family.

More than 20 years ago, I completed an undergraduate degree in a different field.  Now, being a working wife and mother of 2 children, it was a bit difficult to be in school again.  Currently, I am taking the general studies courses like English Composition and Introduction to Psychology.  I will finish my nursing courses and go to school full-time in a couple of years.

I know there will be a lot of compromises and sacrifices involved until I finish my nursing degree.  I just have to remind myself and my family that these are all investments to a better future for us, and a more fulfilling career for me.
