A/N: Credit which sparked the idea for this fic goes to Author: D (Kyo hooker fic). This fic is AU and our familiar 'characters' are a bit 'westernized' (as i've put in a lot of terminology and references that might only be familiar to americans). and..eesh..excuse the soap opera hospital cheesiness..and i'm certain that i'm not all correct with the medical terms. oh, i almost forgot to mention, the first part contains a scene that might be disturbing to some. (i'm just blabbing things out of order >.<)
hrn..well, so far not much of the good stuff yet ^_~, but i'll assure you it will fall into the NC-17 slot *giggle*. the title, you might recognize, is from a bjork song ^^.

Violently Happy

Toshiya x Kyo

Part One

"And...What happened to this patient?" The young doctor asked, lightly scratching his forehead and leaning casually against the door frame.

"From the police reports..." The nurse, dressed in drabby-colored scrubs, glimpsed down at the clipboard cradled in her arm and pushed her glasses over the bridge of her nose. "He was brutally beaten...raped repeatedly." she shook her head slowly. "He was apparently involved with some sort of mob activity."

The nurse handed the clipboard over to the doctor, cracked a stiff curl on her lips and went on her way.

"Mob activity....?" the doctor mumbled inwardly as he slipped into the patient's room, flipping through the pages of the clipboard. "What humans will do to each other.." he sniffed. He shuffled across the strictly sanitized linoleum and peeled his eyes away from the papers to rest upon the patient.

The patient's eyes were still closed in unconsciousness, a few scrapes and bruises from the assault scattered his round, pale, pixieish face, framed with disheveled bleached hair. An IV tube dangled from his arm and led up to the pouch that held the necessary fluid. The doctor's chest sank slightly, curling the corner of his lip downward as lump of sympathy sunk into his gut...as how he would usually feel with most of his other patients. It was obviously difficult for him, as well as the other individuals of the invovled staff, to imagine anyone harming a young boy. But he flipped back to the age description upon the papers. "21?" the doctor muttered. "He doesn't look a day over..." He closed his eyes for a brief moment, sliding his feet toward the foot of the bed before hooking the clipboard in its designated slot.

Hardly a sound was uttered from the menial action, but it was enough to invoke a mewing groan from the patient. The doctor quickly darted to the patient's side, squinting upon the fingers that struggled weakly to grab at the sheets.

Convinced that the patient had regained consciousness, he snatched the clipboard again to take a quick peek at the individual's name. "Ah...uh..Niimura..." the doctor stuttered, darting his eyes from the blinking patient to the papers. He paused, watching the figure turn his weary attentions toward the voice that called his name. Large brown eyes blinked slowly, a hand lifted from under the sheets to rub the sleep out of them. Pink, heart-shaped lips parted by hardly a hair as his field of vision focused upon the thin, sylph-like figure in a lab-coat and neck tie. "Hnnn....?" he groaned.

"I'm Dr. Hara." the doctor greeted gently, struggling a comforting grin. "How....how are you feeling Mr. Nii-"

"-don't call me that..."

"Pardon me?" the young doctor furrowed his eyebrows, cheeks blushing slightly from embarassment. "Uh...then what should I-"

"Kyo." the patient shot with his rather weak voice.

"Oh, alright then. Um..Kyo it is." the doctor trailed with a bit of an uplifted tone and bestowing a smile upon the small figure. "So, how are you f-"

"-Like shit."

The doctor blinked at the patient's crude interruptions, but, nontheless, Kyo -was- the patient. He had to maintain his compassionate posture. "Oh...well...I don't blame you." he sighed, flipping back through the papers to keep his hand occupied. "Seems like you've been through quite an ordeal.."

"Yeah." Kyo simply replied, rolling his attentions toward the IV tube in his arm. He struggled to prop himself to sit upright, but no sooner did a cry of pain wretch from his mouth as soon as he shifted his weight upon the lower half of his body.

The doctor winced, dropping the clipboard upon the mattress and gently clamping his hands upon Kyo's shoulders. "Oh careful! Please. You're going to be pretty sore down there for a while.."

Kyo hufffed and stubbornly laid back against the pillows. "If you want to sit up, you can push that button there on your left." Dr. Hara pointed. "If you want, I'll-"

"-You're a doctor?" Kyo interrupted, yet again, squinting upon the thin figure leaning across the hospital bed to hit the incline button.

"Yes. Why, does that seem strange to you?"

"You look more like the nurse type." the patient spat dryly.

The doctor straightened himself and shrugged. "Heh, well yeah...I get that a lot." he chuckled nervously only to see the patient crack a slight frown from the insult hardly biting him.

"So..."Dr. Hara began again, stuffing a hand into his lab coat pocket, the other plucking the clipboard from the mattress. "I can't help but wonder how you ended up, um...getting attacked the way you did. I mean, do you remember?"

**************************************************

That very evening he was being taken by his "benefactor"- a term he'd rather use than say "john" or "client". He might have had valid reason. After all, this benefactor literally took care of him. He was provided with money, credit card accounts, and almost anything else he wanted for a simple price: his body and any act he was demanded to perform with it.

Kyo was on his back with every inch of his pale skin exposed and legs wantonly spread and wrapped around the other man's waist. He let the older, larger man take him roughly, letting him penetrate and thrust as deeply and as hard as his small body would allow.

He would allow this, of course..he would have to. His life depended on it.

Though he would be paid appropriately, he wouldn't be getting his due payment that evening. Before the mob leader would reach the end of his performance a throng of suited men kicked through the door, firing shots mercilessly at the dominant figure on the bed. Within a few blinks, Kyo's only provider collapsed lifelessly, riddled with bullets while still enveloped inside of him.

The small form lay paralyzed from the traumatizing scene as well as being pinned underneath the bulk weight of the dead body. Not having much strength to push the heavy load off of him, he simply waited for the men to do away with him as he would have expected.

That would have been his preferred option as opposed to what they had done instead. After one of the men kicked the lifeless mob leader off of the tiny figure, he heard a low rumble of lecherous laughter and after that...he couldn't bear to keep his eyes open to what they did to him.

While one pinned his arms down, the others repeatedly took turns ripping through the defenseless vessel. Screaming was next to impossible, especially when no part of his anatomy was ignored- his mouth was forcefully subjected to their pleasures while his nether region witnessed a barrage of prodding hands.

Eventually, the attack stopped, and when Kyo opened his eyes he found himself staring into a gun aimed right between his trembling pools. He thought it was a just ending, not having to bear with the memory of the humiliation. But as luck would have it, the police had rushed in before the the gunman had a chance to pull the trigger. Blood rushed from Kyo's face, leaving him unconsciously pale as he fainted.

***************************************************

"Yeah, I remember." was all Kyo would answer.

"Oh..." Dr. Hara blinked. "Well, I can understand if you don't want to talk about it. So...I won't ask anymore, not unless you-"

"-I ~don't~ want to."

"Ok...Ok." Dr. Hara blinked again. "Anyway, the only thing that matters now is that you're alive and you'll be recovering-"

"-And *then* what?" Kyo shot again, squinting his eyes at the dumbfounded doctor. "After I'm all well enough to get out of here..I'll have nowhere else to go. I may as well be dead."

"You don't have anywhere-?"

"*No*."

The doctor slumped his shoulders, scratching his head with a frustrated hand and shrugged. "Look...maybe we can arrange something that will take ca-"

"-like what? Put me in some shelter?"

Dr. Hara's eyes gaped this time, finally feeling it necessary to be firm, "Look, do you have a better solution?"

"Yeah, kill me." Kyo snorted, watching Dr. Hara's hands drop to his sides while the compassion in his eyes faded away. The clipboard was hastily hooked upon the end of the bed before the doctor marched toward the door.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Mr. Niimura." he huffed and shut the door behind him.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

About two days later, Dr. Hara came into Kyo's room to carry out the same check-up routine. The patient was recovering quite quickly and was found prodding at the hospital food layed out upon the tray.

Dr. Hara snatched the clipboard again, glimpsing at the patient's status and proceeded to ask the routine questions.

"Still feeling like shit today?" the doctor mused. Kyo looked up from the bland food with a frowning smirk tugged upon his lips, clearly, he wasn't amused with Dr. Hara's mockery. The day before that, hardly any words were exchanged to save the doctor from having his day ruined like it was the first day.

But he returned to his normal, gentle tone, "I'm sorry...how are you feeling? Much better?"

"Hrrnh.." Kyo grunted, pushing aside the thin slices of what appeared to be meat.

"I'll take that as a yes." The doctor penned a few items down upon the papers and turned his attentions to his patient again. "Kyo, you haven't been eating properly since yesterday. We don't want to rely on just hooking another IV in you to keep you alive."

The patient rolled his eyes and piffled, "You might as well. This food isn't edible..tastes like shit."

Dr. Hara sighed heavily, rubbing his forehead, "I know this isn't exactly the Ritz Carlton but the food is just enough to provide you with the needed nutrients. It's not -that- bad."

Kyo rolled his eyes again. "Yeah? Why don't -you- eat it?"

"No thanks." Dr. Hara waved his hand before preparing his stethescope to place upon his patient's chest.

"Why not? You said, and I quote..." He mocked the doctor's voice, with an exaggerating high pitch while rocking his head from one side to the other, "...'It's not -that- bad!'..."

Before the doctor could place the ear pieces of the equipment into his ears, he dropped his hands at his sides, sighing, "Look, I'm not going to eat it just to prove something. Just nevermind that and let me have a check on your heartbeat."

The patient diligently put the fork down, peeled part of the hospital gown from his upper body and sat still as the doctor gently pressed the cold, circular piece of equipment against his bare skin. Kyo glimpsed at the tray of food and sulked, "Then you -do- think it tastes like-"

"-Sshhh..." Dr. Hara moved the stethescope over various areas of the smaller figure's chest, seemingly contented with everything he heard from every spot he checked. The patient surprisingly kept his silence, but broke it after killing his quiet boredom by speculating on the doctor's features.

"Hrnh...I still think you don't look like the doctor type."

Dr. Hara removed the stethescope from Kyo's chest and from his own ears with a roll of the eyes and an apathetic shake of his head. *Not this again* he groaned inwardly.

"I don't know why you want to get on my bad side." he sighed, hooking the clipboard upon the end of the bed.

"Huh? No I don't...I mean..not really."

The doctor rolled his eyes again, folding his arms across his chest. "Not really?"

"Yeah..I mean. I kind of want to butter you up a bit so you can get me some real food in here."

"Hmph...well, you can get that yourself, you know that?" The doctor began to turn on his heels to set off toward the door.

Kyo blinked, "What? What the hell do you mean by that? What..you want me to march around the city in this hardly-covering sack you guys put me in?" He shot a seething glare toward the doctor, who, by now had his back turned toward him.

"You can say that. You're to be released from the hospital today."

The patient's eyes widened, "What?! But...I don't have anywhere-"

"-to stay, I know.." the doctor finished. "But this place doesn't seem to fit your needs, as you say."

Kyo's chest sank, deciding it was time to stop his defensive posture. "Dr. Hara...please..I really don't know what to do after this." The patient leaned over the bed rail and took hold of the doctor's wrist before he could get far enough. "I'm sorry, ok? For...for being-"

"-an asshole?"

"Yeah..." Kyo sighed, releasing Dr. Hara's wrist from his grasp.

Dr. Hara turned to face Kyo, the familiar compassion glowing back upon his face, much to the patient's fortune. A short, heavy sigh heaved through his thin chest, "It's understandable. You've been through something horrible, I wouldn't blame you for being defensive."

"So you'll help me?" the patient looked up at the taller figure, large eyes reflecting the other's image.

"I'll see what they can arrange for-"

"-No..I want *you* to help me..."

Dr. Hara tilted his head and squinted.

"Please, Dr. Hara. I....just can't find anyone else to trust other than you. I have -no one- else." Kyo pleaded, hands clutching at the metal bars of the bed rail. "I know I've only known you for three days it's just, I know that you're not like..."

"Like what..?"

"I...well, you're just the trusting type..that's all."

The doctor raised his eyebrows and shrugged lightly. "I guess I'll take that as a compliment." Another heavy, stressful sigh slipped through, "I'll..." he confirmed with a hand pressed against his chest, "...see what -I- can do, alright?"

Kyo closed his eyes and bowed his head, "Thank you, Dr. Hara..."

The taller figure nodded, casually brushing away a wisp of his long, light-brown bangs from his eyes and cracked an obligated grin. "I'll catch you in a few hours, alright?" And, shortly, he left the room.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Kyo realized that the paramedics had some common sense after all. His clothes he had for that evening were gathered alongside his unconscious body and brought with them to the hospital. He'd have to give them credit for not allowing him to leave the place in a hospital gown, or some sort of mismatched donated frock. And he sat there, on one of the chairs in the waiting room, staring at the tv with a remote control that wasn't in his hand, but some elderly woman's hand. Typically, she had it set on a channel that was airing some game show where college students, military officers, and touring groups of elders could win gazebos, hot tubs, and cars by putting a golf ball, spinning a wheel, or tossing huge dice across a table. It was entertaining enough, Kyo figured, especially when the contestants were large women screaming for dear life when the announcer informs them that they could be winning the car behind the pulled-back curtains or win a large amount of money if they could guess the prices of various items.

He often found himself laughing when they'd miss the price by one number, while the elderly woman groaned, "Oh...that's just too bad..I -knew- the Metamucil was at least 6.99."

"Kyo...!" The familiar voice of the doctor caught the released patient's ears. Ironically, he found it difficult to peel his eyes away from the hollering college frat guy yell at the wheel in the hopes of not going over one dollar.

"Kyo! Hey, there you are!"

Eventually, the blonde was able to pull his attentions away from the hypnotizing screen to see Dr. Hara trodding away from the reception desk garbed in a more casual set of clothes.

"Dr. Hara...Hey, you're...not wearing your lab coat...and you're shirt n' tie." Kyo blinked, speculating the doctor's snug-fitting top and hooded sweater.

The doctor plopped into the seat next to Kyo and smirked, "You don't think doctors wear those things on their time off, do you?"

"No, well..." Kyo chuckled before returning to the more serious subject. "So...where am I staying?"

"Oh yes. Um..." The young professional glimpsed outward toward the TV screen and slung a slender leg over the other. "One solution I could think of was that you could stay in one of the bunks. But you can't stay there too long...they're mainly for staff. Another option is that you can stay in my office. There's a fold-out couch....but...the downside of that is you can't be in there when I'm meeting with a patient. And I'm not exactly certain that the chief of staff would be happy with either of those choices. But hey, at least you'd have a few temporary options until you find a place, you know?" He concluded earlier, to himself, that is, that perhaps, since the patient was involved with some crime organization, Kyo wasn't exactly in a hurry to be seen in the public eye.

"Yeah." Kyo nodded, eyebrows arched in the manner of gratitude. "Thank you for all you've done. I guess I'll take the option of staying in your office. I don't think the other staff members would appreciate some stranger crashing in the bunks." He laughed.

"It's no problem. I mean, I'm sorry I couldn't find you some fancy hotel to book you in." the doctor quipped with a playful wink. "But, alas, my powers are limited."

The smaller one chuckled and shook his head, "I know, I know." Turning his head toward one of the hallways, he tilted from one side to the other as if searching for a certain door. "So where's your office?"

"Well, it's not on this floor.." Dr. Hara chuckled as he pushed himself off of his seat, gaunt hands resting upon his hips and continuing, "...C'mon, I'll show you."

As soon as Kyo followed suit, he led him into an elevator that carried them to the appropriate floor, trekked through the halls until he stopped in front of a door with the doctor's name etched on a small panel nudged against the frame.

"Alright..here we are.." the young medic chimed after turning the unlocked knob. Kyo slouched himself after the other, sniffing casually with a crooked curl upon his lips. The office was rather typical of anyone in the medical proffession: fancy wooden desk, certificates hung in dignified frames, shelves stocked with books undoubtedly filled with info on medicine, health, diseases, and other subjects that would require big words. But other than that, there was an empty presence..or so Kyo thought.

"I see you got your fancy desk.."smirked Kyo. "But where are the pictures of your wife and kids and fancy shmancy awards and big hokey plant in the corner?"

Dr. Hara shuffled over to his desk and leaned clumsily upon the edge fiddling with a pad of post-its. A shy, blushing smile stretched across his face and shook his head, "It's my first year...I only got that.." he pointed to the certificate hung behind the desk, "..about seven months ago. And I'm not married...I mean, not yet..." He glimpsed at the other and shrugged lightly. "Oh..the couch is right there, behind you."

Kyo blinked as he turned around, seeing the neutral-colored couch before falling upon the cushions. He leaned his elbow upon one of the arm rests, chin displayed in his palm, "Not married..? That's a surprise.." he puffed.

"Yeah, well..eh..no time, I guess." Dr. Hara shrugged. "So...I take it you're all settled now? There's a private bathroom right over there. " He pointed toward the said door, "Though I almost thought it was a closet at first.." he muttered, chuckling. "Oh..." the doctor's lips curled downward, "I forgot..um..I'll have to snatch you a pillow and blanket before I leave." Before he could make it halfway to the door, Kyo's voice blocked his path.

"Uh..."the smaller figure straightened himself slightly, eyes darting from the door to Dr. Hara. "You're gonna be leaving?"

"Uh huh." The doctor nodded. "My shift is over, gonna be heading home and take care of a few errands..is there something I forgot?"

"N-no...no.." Kyo blinked down toward the carpeted floor, shaking his head. He could sense the other tilting his head curiously as he continued. "I was gonna go check out the cafeteria..that one a few floors down...I figured that the food there wouldn't be like..you know like the slop they give to patients..and..uh..I mean I don't know anyone..and I kinda don't want to be there alone..You seem to know your way around here...I mean you have to..you're a doctor and everything..and--"

"-And you want me to go there with you?" Dr. Hara softly raised his eyebrows.

"Uh, yeah..I mean I don't normally ask..and I'm-"

"-a little embarassed to ask me?" the doctor chuckled. "Hey..I wouldn't mind. I haven't had lunch yet and I could use the company."

Kyo's knees trembled as he pushed himself off of the settled couch, undoubtedly realizing the heated blush upon his cheeks. And what was worse was that he was certain that the young doctor could sense his motive. "Heh..I know I'm not..like...a hot chick or anything..but I mean-"

"Will you cut it out and come on already?" Dr. Hara laughed, tilting his head toward the door. "You could have an extra arm attatched to your back and I'd still accept the invitation."

After locking up, the pair headed back down the same path toward the elevator.

"So you're saying I'm ugly?" Kyo squinted.

"Oh goodness." the doctor shook his head, "You knew what I meant."

The elevator descended a few more floors, Kyo stared at up at the numbers as they blinked from one floor to the other, hands fidgeting in his pockets until the soft ding cued the doors to slide open. He caught the young doctor glimpse down at him, flashing a casual half grin and waving a hand slightly, gesturing him to step off of the elevator first. The smaller of the pair nodded gratefully, replying with a quick shy grin and stepped into the hall with the doctor following suit.

It was certainly nothing. An instinctive polite gesture, thought Kyo as they weaved through the hall of bustling patients and medics. But to him, it was almost culture shock...everything Dr. Hara had done for him until now.

The hospital cafeteria had just reached the end of the lunch-time rush. Tables and benches were littered with just a light scatter of occupants which consisted of patients, visitors, as well as staff members. A few of the fellow staff members recognized the young doctor and greeted him as they whisked by, heading back to their shifts.

"'Ey, Toshiya, thought you were headin' home?" asked a nurse as she realized she had her stethescope slung around her neck during her entire lunch hour.

"Yeah well, "chuckled the young doctor, grabbing a tray for himself and Kyo before finishing, "Thought I'd grab something to eat with a friend here."

"Ah..I gotcha.." the nurse took a quick glimpse at Kyo and nodded. "Well..gotta run! I'll catch ya' tomorrow, huh?" And, shortly, she skimmed her way toward the double doors of the cafeteria.

"Yeah, you take care then, Cally!" Dr. Hara called out before the nurse was out of range. He returned his attentions to the other as they slid down the displays of various dishes. "I totally do not recommend the egg salad sandwich here.." he chuckled, "I swear they only use one egg and a whole jar full of mayonaise..but that's if you like that sorta thing.."

Kyo chuckled, "I think I'll pass." Sliding past a few more dishes, he decided on a pasta dish and a salad. "So...you're first name's Toshiya?"

The taller of the pair, snatched himself a cup of soup and a cheese sandwich and smirked, "Huh...yeah, I guess you can call me that now..."

"Alright then, Toshiya." Kyo smiled briefly as they slid over to the register. "Let me take care of this..since you've done a lot..and..." He pulled out his wallet, which, fortunately hadn't been left behind by the paramedics- not to mention with his money still intact- and paid for their lunches before Toshiya could protest.

After settling down at one of the smaller tables set against a wall, Toshiya tilted his gaze from across. "...and?"

"And what?" Kyo squinted, pausing the twirling fork enravled with noodles.

"You didn't finish your sentence when we were at the register."

The smaller figure blinked, "Oh.."He definitely wasn't the type to be sappy with confessions, not unless he was demanded to by a paying benefactor. "Well...uh...god, I'm..." Kyo sighed, slumping his shoulders and peering across the table with cringed eyes, "I don't know. No one ever referred to me as a friend...you know, like what you did when that nurse chick passed by. And..I know you were just saying that...I mean..instead of just saying you were having lunch with a patient...I mean..I dunno..."

Kyo left off with a shrug and retreated back to his plate.

Expectedly, Toshiya raised his eyebrows, "Aw...well. I..I know we haven't known each other for that long..I mean I did what I did because I really felt that you really needed someone. I..I wouldn't do that to just anyone, you know..." he paused, cupping his hand lightly over his lips and chuckled, "I have to admit..I'm soft-hearted. If you want..I could be your friend..you've been through so much."

But with all the compassion he's known to give, a little voice of caution kept a little warning signal. He valued his sense of compassion, but he also valued his own life. The words uttered from the nurse that first day: "mob activity" never once escaped him. Still, he wouldn't hesitate to offer his friendship.

He smiled back at the other, whose nose was buried within the sauce covered noodles.

Timid eyes rolled back up from the plate of pasta. "Thank you, " Kyo smiled shyly.

A shy moment lingered between the two as they quietly continued to clean off their plates. But, thankfully, Toshiya had a way of breaking strange silences. He went on about his plans to make his office look more 'livable' and what his plans were once he got back to his place. All the while Kyo would blatantly stare at Toshiya's hands as they picked up the bottled water, dipped a spoon into the soup, or crinkle a corner of a napkin before he realized that he was actually fantasizing about them doing other activities.

"Kyo?"

"Huh?" Kyo shook himself out of his daydreaming trance, "What?"

"You haven't said anything for the past few minutes. Am I that boring?" Toshiya giggled and pointed, "You must have been bored enough to pile all that on your fork. That can't possibly fit in your mouth."

Kyo looked down at his absenmtmindedly occupied hand to see that he had enraveled a fist-sized amount of noodles around his fork. "Oh believe me..I've had bi-...uh..I mean..I bet you I can."

Toshiya laughed and shook his head, "Oh really now?" he chuckled. "I mean, I'm not daring you or anything but I don't want you choking and ending up in the emergency room."

"If I do, promise that you'd be my doctor? 'Cause I don't want any stranger prodding me, you know."

"Yeah, well..hey! Don't do it!" Toshiya chuckled, leaning over to push the heavily loaded fork from Kyo's gaping mouth. Kyo dutifully laid the utensil down and cackled, "I said I could."

"I'll just take your word for it."

And, with the fog of tension clearly lifted, the pair continued with their lunches, prattling on about their likes and dislikes, about occupants sitting in a far off distance and anything else that didn't seem too sensitive to touch on. None of them kept track of the time, it could have been a half hour, or even two hours. Neither seemed to have minded.

Kyo loomed over their empty plates, feeling a bit disheartened that his only company would eventually have to leave. Despite that, he was polite enough to remind the other.

"I guess you'd better get going, huh?" Kyo groaned softly with his eyes mourning over the watch on Toshiya's wrist. "I don't want to keep you from anything important."

The young doctor glimpsed down at his watch and blinked, "Oh, that's right..I was supposed to..." he idly pouted his bottom lip and shrugged, "Eh..that can wait, actually. Here..I'll walk you to my office, huh? Go get you a blanket and a few pillows."

They left their trays on the table as they left the cafeteria. Kyo trodded behind the other, secretly lamenting as Toshiya led him to the elevators once again. He waited by the door of the doctor's office while the other snatched the said necessities from a nearby bunk.

"Here you go." Toshiya voice chimed as he plunked the bedding materials into Kyo's arms. "Remember, the couch folds out.." he muttered after unlocking the door. "So all you'd...you're quiet again, Kyo..." he caught the other staring at the floor as he shuffled past him.

"Huh?" Kyo dropped the blanket and pillows onto the couch and shrugged, "Sorry, I was just..I dunno...not all there or something.."

Toshiya tilted his head, "You worried or something? You're perfectly safe here..is that what you're concerned about?"

"Huh? N-no..not really."

"Then..? C'mon, you can tell me."

Kyo sunk his chest in, eyes glued to the floor as his voice fidgeted, "I...I ...kinda don't want to be alone."

"Oh geeze..." Toshiya leaned against the door frame and scratched a hand through his hair. "I'd hate to leave you here all alone too, you know." He stared at the lamenting figure, shoulders slumped as he hesitantly thought of a solution. He thought of Kyo's condition, how victims of that particular kind of assault would need special attention. But he also thought of Kyo's affiliation with a certain organization, even if he didn't know about the entire story. Any kind of affiliation with the mob was anything but good, he figured. Then he remembered...Kyo put his trust into him. He might not be in any type of danger after all, he naively thought before making his decision.

"Why don't you come with me, then?" Toshiya's voice hinted a bit of nervousness, watching Kyo's eyes lift from the floor and somewhat brighten with optimism.

"Is...is that ok with you, though? I don't want to get in your way. You can throw me out whenever if I get on your nerves."

"Nah..c'mon.." Toshiya grinned and gestured toward the door.
