~A Lareine fic~

Alone, he sat on the cement bench. The sea seemed to yawn in its vastness and the bluish waters rolled in rippling waves faraway. The sky was a dull mix of blue and grey, making the air seem colder than it already was. The rain fell in a scanty mist-like fog.

His blonde hair seemed to go well with his pale complexion and blue contacts. He had a long coat on, a black one, with a white blouse inside, buttoned to the top. He looked out at the steely sky and the merciless sea, apparently not bother by the drizzle that the chilly wind swept into his face.

‘Enchanted by the sea…’

He let out a dry humourless laugh.

A thin figure walked amidst the drizzling rain towards him.

"Kamijo?"

The blonde man didn’t move; just listened to the sound of the waves washing against the shore. The other man took a seat beside him and there was silence. But it was not an uncomfortable silence. The two of them just spent a few moment, quietly, staring out the blue sea, as if deep in their own thoughts.

"How are you?" Kamijo suddenly spoke, his voice surprising Mayu. It sounded…different…

"I’m fine," he answered, nodding absently.

And they fell into another lapse of still quietness. Mayu’s sight turned to the vocalist as he took a deep breath, inhaling in the salty mist that was all around them.

"And you?"

"Good, I’m good," Kamijo turned to look at him for the first time that evening.

Mayu couldn’t help but stare at the pursed smile and those eyes… Unconsciously, he let out a heavy sigh as he turned his face away, unable to look on any longer, and his eyes shifted over the small grains of sand on the cement. What was it that made him turn away? Was it his emotionless, unfeeling smile? Was it his eyes that seemed to chill him to the bone? Was it the hurt and betrayal that seemed to mock him from his eyes?

"You’ve been busy, I guess," Mayu said, not knowing what he was trying to say but he wanted to at least make a conversation. But his lips felt numb from the early winter breeze and the glaze over his eyes stung them.

Kamijo shrugged. "As usual, it has always been busy…"

Mayu nodded. He bit his lip. "I…I think I better go," he stood up, the glaze in his eyes had collected along the rims.

Kamijo merely look at him. "Goodbye."

Mayu muttered a farewell and stepped again, into the drizzle, feeling the raindrops his face painfully as if they were sharp needles.

Why?

Why do we speak as if we did not know each other?…as if all those years, the memories of those years had forsaken us?

He pressed a palm to his cheek as the tears fell, but he couldn’t feel them.

The footsteps running towards him grew louder and clearer.

"Mayu!!!"

Kamijo.

A pair of arms clasped him in their hold.

The time seemed to pause for a long while with them, standing in the misty rain, unmoving.

"Kamijo…?" he said but in a sob.

The arms tightened around him and through the cold, he could feel a soft of warmth radiating from him.

"Mayu…stay with me? Please?"

A soft smile.

"Hai…hai…"
