1 gallon apple cider 2/3 cup sugar 2 tsp. whole allspice 2 tsp. whole cloves 2 cinnmon sticks, 3 inches long 2 oranges, studded with cloves
Heat all ingrediants except oranges to boiling in Dutch oven; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Strain punch. Pour into small heatproof punch bowl. Float oranges in bowl. Serve hot. (Pour hot water before hand into punch bowl and let set for 30 min. then pour out water and pour in punch, to make punch bowl safer for hot punch.
If you prefer, use an attractive sauce pan kept on the stove top and let guests help themselves. |
