| About My Family - The Patriarchs |
||||||||||||||
| My parents began teaching me at a young age, the importance of a close family. This life is so short...too short, for us not to spend every chance we can all together. | ||||||||||||||
| Although I know the wonderful qualities this family is made up of; as I sat at my parent's country home this weekend; this is what came to my attention. I saw the lines of wisdom, laughter, heartache and love on the most beautiful faces I've ever seen. I've witnessed a closeness in this family that is second to none. This family has truly been mad together, laughed together, and cried together. I look at my parents and my aunts and uncles, the Patriarchs of this family, and wonder if my own children, and my cousin's children, really comprehend the amazing family of which they are a part. | ||||||||||||||
| I have laughed at the stories of my aunts and uncles from the childhood years. I have ached over the absence of a wonderful aunt whom was taken from this world before I was brought into it. I've seen many family members go, yet the patriarchs of this family hold strong. The undying and faithful love that is shared, has certainly endured the test of time. | ||||||||||||||
| I have noticed that when someone has married into this family, they are not treated as an in-law. They are not treated indifferent, but treated as blood. At one time or another, they've been the center of someone's anger as well as that person's love and worries, just like anyone else born into this family. Even when marriages have ended due to circumstances beyond our understanding, I've still seen this family treat all with kindness. | ||||||||||||||
| When there's been turmoil, there has love to overtake it. When there's been sadness, there's been compassion to lift it. When there's been doubt and fear, there's been wisdom to rebut it. When there's been a little too much pride, there's been humbleness to remind us of our Lord. And where there's been happiness, there's been the strength to keep it lingering there in the background of every situation. | ||||||||||||||
| I cannot say, to whoever may be reading this right now, just how wonderful my family is. I cannot go into detail here (without out shedding tears) about each and every family member and tell you what they've been through as individuals and together as whole. Or even all they have contributed to the lives of others. But what I can tell you is this....God has certainly blessed me more than the richest man who has everything within his reach. And for that, I am forever grateful. I just hope that when it's my time, I can be the patriarch that you can all be proud of. I certainly have had the best teachers! I love you all! Love, Johnna |
