Dylan Thomas,
A Brief Biography
       "One:  I am a Welshman;
           two:  I am a drunkard;
three:  I am a lover of the human race,
           especially of women."
~Born October 27th, 1914 in Swansea, Glamorganshire, which is in Wales.
~Educated at Swansea Grammar School.
~Worked as a reporter for The South Wales Daily Post from 1931-32.
~After moving to London, published first book in 1934,
18 Poems, which was the result of winning a prize from The Sunday Referee publication.
~Wrote poetry throughout his literary life, but also short stories, film scripts, broadcast stories, a radio play, and also toured as a lecturer.
~Married Caitlin Macnamara in 1937; couple were well-known members of the bohemian circles before and during WWII.
~Fathered two sons, Llewelyn Edouard and Colm Garan Hart, and one daughter, Aeronwy Bryn.
~Lived most of his life in poverty in England and Wales.
~In 1949, began making frequent trips to the U.S. as a lecturer.
~Collapsed in a New York hotel during a lecture tour in 1953 and died at St. Vincent's Hospital on November 9th, shortly after his 39th birthday.  He had been suffering bouts with depression and was drinking excessively; it is said that he died of alcohol poisoning.
~Regardless of his personal issues, Thomas is regarded as the respected Welsh poet and his contributions to the literary canon are irreplaceable.
