-Founder of the Bauhaus School
-Studied at the Colleges of Technology of Berlin and Munich
-Worked under architect Peter Behrens from 1907-10
-Influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright
-Driven out of Germany by national political situation (Hitler's influence)
-Spent time in London, later settled in Boston, MA
-Taught at MIT and Harvard
