LETTER TO THE EDITOR Dear Editor: I would like to comment on this scbool's shield. I think that what I am about to say is also applicable to all the West Island Prot- stant schools. It seems to me that, whoever designed this shield did not really understand the subtle meanings of many innocent looking symbols. I refer to the yellow line, running from the top right to the bottom left of our coat of arms, commonly known in Heraldry as a "bend sinister." The meaning of this line I found, in both Boutell's "Heraldry" and the Encyclopedia Bitannica, to mean that the owner or wearer is an illegitimate child. Unless, as I am certain it is not, this school is entitled to this "honour", I suggest that the shield or shields be re-arranged! "legitimately" yours, David Powell ATTENTION - ACTIVISTS To destruct is easy and requires little intelligence and frequently a good deal of personal spite. Vandalism is a good example of destruction. To construct is difficult and requires intelligent plan- ning and research of definite - not vague - programs. Conversely, any student who is happy with the "status quo" is also encouraged to state his or her views. Come on - let's hear it for the future of education!
