Jennifer (James) Turnbull
Class of 1969

My family and I have been living in the sunny Okanagan, the land of beaches and vineyards, in beautiful British Columbia for the past 21 years. I have two adult daughters. Lindsey, the youngest graduated from SAIT as a medical transcriptionist but has of course decided she doesn't want to do that now. Robyn, the oldest graduated from OUC with a business degree. She is engaged to Mike who is an avid golfer. He has won the Penticton Open four years in a row and played in the Air Canada Open in Vancouver as an amateur. There was an article written about him in Sports Illustrated. Robyn and Mike and my granddog (Oscar the wonderful wiener dog!) are coming home today for a week.

My husband, Bruce is an avid fly fisherman and golfer. He has been a wonderful support to me over the years but especially the past couple of years after I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then a "new life" has unfolded for me/us. I'm on a breast cancer dragonboat team called "Survivorship". (www.survivorshipteam.org). We won the gold and the Breast Cancer Cup at the Kelowna Dragonboat Festival. I joined a Provincial dragonboat team and in March we travelled to New Zealand to compete in the Inaugural South Pacific Breast Cancer Regatta in Auckland and then in Wellington. There is a good article and team picture at w.abreastinthewest.ca written by one of my teammates. From there we stopped in Fiji and toured the Yasawa Islands. I have recently been asked to join a Canadian dragonboat team, called Canadians Abreast and they are planning to travel to Capetown South Africa in April 2004, to compete. I am looking forward to the reunion and hope to see you all there!
