David MacKay
Class of 1969
After graduating from Engineering at McGill in 74 I went for a year to Honduras and developed a permanent taste for latin life. I worked for 2 years in Montreal in water treatment, then headed back to Honduras feeling that life was too orderly in Canada. I only made it as far as Mexico, where I met Esther at a party in Acapulco and married her 5 weeks later in 1977. We have 3 children, David (25, married with a daughter 1), Mark 23 and Margaret 21. We lived in Montreal (where Mark was born) and Toronto (where Margaret was born) from 79 to 86. Then we returned to Mexico where I started the business I've worked at since. Esther and I were together for 20 years and separated now for 6.
Most of my time is dedicated to the business where we build ozonators for water treatment. However, about 10 years ago I became concerned about my mind-centered occupation and decided I needed to round things out. I became interested in metaphysics and later psychology and have taken innumerable courses and trainings. Right now I'm into Family Constellations, Eneagrams and Shamanism. I teach yoga 3 times a week before work and have been vegetarian for many years (though I now include fish in my diet). I remarried in July. Ana is a psychologist who I met in one of my courses. We recently bought a nice piece of land by the river, where we plan to build a home and center to give courses together.
