Catherine Baseraba
Class of 1971
Catherine Basaraba (you will remember her as Cathy) moved to Toronto in 1972 after one year at John Abbott in the theater programme. She attended the Ontario College of Art (now OCAD) for two years, then moved over to Ryerson University to finally complete a degree in Interior Design.
After a year designing corporate interiors that had nothing to do with her personality or interests, she moved into a much more fitting environment: television. She worked as an art director and locations manager for almost twenty years, while developing interests in photography and writing. She also taught at Ryerson University in the Interior Design and Radio and Television Arts programmes. In 2001 she went back to her roots as an artist by moving into graphic design full time. She now works for the CBC making computer graphicsr for various current affairs and news shows. She is very grateful to all of you Canadian taxpayers for your contribution to her salary.
Partly to find new things to write about, Catherine travels as frequently and as far as possible (again, thank you taxpayers). She has used art classes for an excuse to be in San Miguel de Allende, Florence and Taos, and has published articles and photography in national travel magazines.
It will be great to be back in Montreal next week to see as many of you as possible!
