Don Williams bio (followed by a Bruce Layzell bio):
I worked my way through university by parachuting into and fighting forest fires (smokejumping) in the Yukon and Northwest Territories. I graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts, and then headed west to British Columbia. I worked for several years with the BC Forest Service and the BC Ministry of Environment.
In Vancouver, I joined a consulting company where we developed computer models to help solve risk assessment problems related to emergencies and disasters. In 1985, I left the consulting world to incorporate SoftRisk Technologies, an emergency mangement software company. I was the president & CEO of SoftRisk Technologies until Y2K.
Since then, I have been the president of Stratelyst Corporation, a specialized management consulting firm. In this role, I have acted as interim president for two technology companies. I am presently working with a TSE-listed technology company in a senior strategic market development capacity, which takes me all over the world.
I live in White Rock, BC with my wife Melanie and two of three daughters. My favourite pastimes include a wide range of outdoor recreation activities and songwriting. I am a published songwriter and a member of the Institute for Risk Research, University of Waterloo.

Bruce Layzell bio:
After I graduated from John Rennie, I did one year at CEGEP before joining the Royal Bank. I married an English girl (in England) in 1978 and moved to Vancouver the following year. Two boys followed and then I moved to Toronto for a couple of years, but went back to Vancouver in 1986 (Yay !). I left Royal Bank in 1994 and joined ISMBC, which is now part of Telus (phone company). I manage their data centre. My younger son lives in Sudbury, working as a flight instructor, and my older son is living at home (still) trying to make a living as a musician in a rock band (I'll be supporting him till I expire!)
