A little about me. My name is Jeff. I’m a 33 year old guy from Dallas, Texas, USA (born and raised, 100% Texan). I’m 5’10" 290 lbs. Blue eyes, Brown hair with some gray coming in mostly on the sides.
I like most types of music. I typically don’t listen to rap, but I don’t really have anything against it. Heck, I listened to rap when I was still in high school. *shrugs* These days I listen to a little bit of everything. Perennial Favorites by the Squirrel Nut Zippers, the Ridge Racer 5 soundtrack, the Ghost in the Shell soundtrack are just three of the discs I have in my CD case right now. My car radio has been tuned to a local country station lately.
I have been known to buy some very different music. For instance, Hedningarna’s the Heathens fire CD… or several of the Excursions in Ambience discs. My tastes are broad, what can I say? :)
I love movies, mostly sci-fi. I like Star Trek a lot, but I am not a Trekkie or Trekker… or whatever they like to be called these days. I also enjoy animation of many types. I specifically like Japanese animation or Anime as it is known. From Speed Racer to the latest installment of Bubblegum Crisis... I love it all.
I read just about anything, from scientific speculation to fiction to philosophy. I like it all. In the last few years I have read some really good stuff, some really informative stuff and some really entertaining stuff. See my Books page for some current things I’m reading.
I play games, all sorts. Mostly RPGs and board games, but also computer games both strategy and RPG. For those not in the know, an RPG is a role-playing game. RPGs can be fun if played, and run, properly. Some games that I play are Dragon Dice, GURPS, Cyberpunk, Free Beer. On my Links page are links to some of the homepages of the games that I play.
I do a little drawing and painting... here's a sketch of a tree in my backyard that I did as a preliminary for an oil painting. And here is the painting so far. It has been months since I've worked on it though. Incidentally, my back yard does not really look that way, but I didn't think an ugly old fence would look good as a back drop for that wonderful tree. LOL
I've spent a lot of my time writing recently. I've got a book in my head and I've got to get it out on paper, even if I never publish it. :) I also write a little poetry (mostly haiku and free verse) which I've put up here for your contemplation.

A little bit about my nickname. Many years ago I had a girlfriend who wrote fantasy stories. She decided one day to include herself, me and several of our friends in one of her stories. In the story my character was a gnome. Soon that became a nick of sorts and I later used it in chatting online. Well, the chick is gone, but the nick has stayed. LOL I am the Gnome. :)
I also have a modest collection of gnome statues and figurines.
