Peter Johnson and the world of 2D (book 2)
CHAPTER ONE THE NEW VIDEO GAME
After what happened last time I thought I would stay with video games, I had been saving up for a new one, one called; Super Simon. When mum got home from work I asked her if we could go up town to the computer shop and get the new game I had always been wanting. We made our way up town, on the way we saw a weird dog, a black one with a blue collar and a hat. A HAT what a strange thing for a dog to be wearing. When we got into the shop a man with a moustache and a horrible goatee beard, "Hello, we were wanting to buy a video game called Super Simon," instructed mum. The man went through a door out to the back and came back in about 2 minutes later holding a box labelled; Super Simon. "That will be £35.99 then," he shouted, I gave him my savings and he gave me a receipt and a penny change. When we got home I rushed strait to the games room and switched on the console I entered level one and I had to shoot down five bandits and pickup the gem at the end. I played all of the level on the first Island before mum called me for dinner. After dinner I switched the game on again and got onto the next Island. There were 9 levels on an Island and there was 6 Islands.
I played and played until I got to level four of the third Island. The television screen suddenly went BANG and the pictures started to swirl around to make a spiral. ding dong "oh no, what a time for Michael and William to come around," my mum let them come into the games room with me. All of a sudden the screen started to suck us in me, Michael and William were being pulled in like a whirlpool. I then realised why, it was because I had just lost a life on the whirlpool level. When I opened my eyes I found we were inside the game, a voice then came from above," Complete the game to get out." We assumed it meant we had to play the levels ourselves to get out. "LEVEL ONE!" came the voice again, we started at the door. First we went through the door and came to some boxes going upwards in Hightower all went up the boxes. At the top was a ledge," Wait a second, I know this, this is level one of my game," I said to William and Michael. "Next we come across five bandits and then we..."
"Hey don't ruin the surprise this is fun." interrupted Michael.
We shot all five of the bandits down and a big red gem appeared in front of us, we walked in to it and we were teleported to the next level.
CHAPTER 2 LEVEL 2
For the next level we had to get the next gem by getting across the river on a boat and then beat the one of Lord potrew's baddies. All three of us got into a rowing boat and started rowing up the river towards a massive waterfall in the distance. It was taking us ages and ages to get anywhere the waterfall still seemed the same distance as before. Then I knew why, we hadn't untied the rope yet. On the river, like I expected there were lots of obstacles, like whirlpools, tidal waves and massive electric eels. At last we came to the waterfall, we pulled a cover over the top of us so as we go through we wouldn't get wet. On the other side we got out the boat and came across a baddie, we started using moves like; kicks, punches. After beating the baddie we made our way to the stone temple at the top of the hill. In the temple was the gem, sitting on a ledge in the air waiting for someone to get it. To get the we had to climb up boxes around the room and jump to the floating ledge in midair. It took us about thirty attempts before getting the gem and being teleported to the next level.
LEVEL 3
Now we had to bobsleigh to the bottom of Mt Bongo Me, William and Michael got a sledge each and sat waiting for the green light.
Red, red, red,
green, it was a race against time, we had to go down to the bottom of the mountain in one piece and within 1 minute 30 seconds. On the way down we had to dodge now 'n' again giant snowballs and without crashing into rocks. Also there were jumps we had to go over, if you didn't make the jump you would lose a life. Swerve right, swerve left, up the jump, dodge the rock, left, right, "Ah giant snow ball!" I shouted. There was a big sign saying, "CHECK POINT" which meant if you die you'd go back to this place, not the start again. CRASH I hadn't been looking where I was going, I went strait into a rock, I’d lost my first life. I went swirling around and reappeared at the sign post. Left, right, around the rock and up the final jump, through the two markers marking the finishing line. Now I was just waiting for Michael and William, who were still on the mountain," One minute and twenty nine seconds," came the voice. All of a sudden Michael rushed past me and went strait into the gem and left me and William in this level. Then William came as well and he did the same as what Michael did. I thought I may as well jump through the gem too, but it was starting to fade away.I jumped and I just made it through, in fact that very second I got through it whooshed close behind me.
LEVEL 4
For the next level we were in planes and had to shoot the baddies planes down to win, there were nine planes to shoot, three each. But if we got shot too many times we would die as well, I started on nearest plane. I chased it around, shooting it's tail and every now 'n' again I got in from the side. BANG I got its fuel tank and blew it to smithereens one down, two to go. Ping, ping, ping
"Ah, I’m being shot!" I shouted as several planes came in, I shot back, only one plane for me left. William had one down and Michael had two down. After another ten minutes William just had one left to do, "Meet you in the next level" I shouted to William, which he probably didn't here. He finished and we went through the red gem.
LEVEL FIVE
This one we had to play archery to win, we had to score 100 points or more with three arrows. The first time I only got 62 points, but later I got better and better. "Bulls-eye!" Michael shouted.
My next try I got 88,"right this time I'm going to get it" I said to myself.
I lined up the arrow and shot it,40 points, I shot the second arrow,10,I needed 50 points to win,"50!" I shouted as I hit the circle around the bulls-eye. We waited for William who kept missing, after what seemed like half an hour he got 100 points. We walked through the gem.
LEVEL 6
For the next level we had to ride the rapids three laps without loosing a life. On the rapids there were really tight bends and small waterfalls and the flow of the water was so fast. We all got a rubber dingy each and started on the first lap around the rapids, it was about half a mile a lap. So that's 1and a half miles or 1.5 miles. It was fast but really fun as well, "One lap!" I shouted as I came through the markers the second lap seemed much, much harder and longer, but it wasn’t. I soon found out that if you die on a second or third lap, then you would start from that start, not the very start. After about ten minutes we were all on the last lap around, "Arhh!" screamed William as he crashed into a rock, he had to start again, "Finished," I said. "Finished," shouted Michael as he got out of his rubber dingy onto the path, me and Michael waited near a tree for William, "Finished," called William as he came over to us. We walked through the gem.
CHAPTER 7 LEVEL 7
Level 7 was ice hockey, score ten goals to win, we had our own lane each against one of Lord Potrew’s goalkeepers. It was really hard because the goalie was so good at saving; Michael was ahead of me and William by three goals. He had five goals and me and William only had two. "Goal!" I shouted as the puck rebounded in the back, I spent about a whole hour on that challenge before scoring my tenth goal. For a change it was William who came first, I came second and Michael came last.
Level 8
We walked through the gem into a laboratory with a sealed door; we had to solve a problem to open the door at the back of the room.
We were given clues like a treasure hunt, well exactly the same but we weren’t looking for treasure, we were trying to get out. Through the door was a big boss, I knew this because I’d played it at home, but I didn’t want to spoil it for Michael.
CLUE ONE
There was a picture of a globe, the next clue must be a globe, it was, it was a picture of chemistry test tube. We found a test tube and inside was a blue liquid, we looked for something blue, the only thing blue was a map.
CHAPTER 9 BIG BOSS
In front of us was an alien with a big bulging purple brain and a laser gun. He had 5 drops of life, I had 7, we had guns too, but we only had shot guns not lasers. We couldn't attack it until he'd finished his move, dodge, dodge, dodge, I found out he does 3 attacks and then crashes giving us a chance to attack him. bang, "yes only four left!" I shouted as I started to dodge his second lot of attack, and if you loose die then he gets all his energy back and you have to start again. Only three left to go, better make that two, "Arhh!" William screamed as the alien shot him on his right leg. "Carry on without me," shouted William again. We did as he said and carried on, soon before long the horrible alien only had one drop of life left. When we beat him we should go home, dodge, dodge, dodge "Victory!" Michael shouted as he shot the alien from behind. It lay on the floor, all of a sudden we started being sucked down the same vortex and ended up in my games room. "Right, that’s that for computer games, I’ll stick with the park." I told Michael and William.
