"Star Dust" by JR Frick
"Star Dust" is a combination of two of my lifelong passions.....motorcycles and airplanes. I've  been  a collector of  World  War II Army Air Corps memorabilia for 10 years and  have flown  on  the three  major  heavy bombers of World War  II...B-17 "Flying Fortress",  B-24 "Liberator", and B-29 "Superfortress".  When I decided  to customize  my  V-Star it seemed only fitting to go with a World War II bomber theme.
The tank art is typical of the nose art found on our fighting aircraft of  World  War II complete with beautiful young lady and  the ever popular  "V"  for Victory.  The girl is a classic 1945 pin-up from the most famous of all pin-up artists, Alberto Vargas. The paint job was done by AJ's Artworks in West Columbia, S.C.
So far, I've replaced the handlebars, front and rear signals, footpegs, grips, mirrors, master cylinder cover, control lines, headlight, taillight lens and pipes. I have also added a rear lowering kit and installed a hypercharger. Chrome bolt on accessories include choke knob cover,  rear fender trim,  drive shaft cover,  horn cover,  oil cap, brake and shifter covers,  front and rear axle covers,  and engine guard.  In addition to the aftermarket accessories,  I have also fabricated  some  of  my  own  including  the swing arm extensions and side mount license plate frame.
Unique  to  "Star Dust" is  the use of vintage Army Air Corps memorabilia from my collection. On the triple tree is a W W  II pilot's wing, on the rear under the taillight  is  a bombardier's wing,  and  on the license plate is an aerial gunner's wing.  There  is  also  a vintage Air Corps insignia affixed to the rear fender trim. Keeping with the military theme I also adapted .40 caliber shell casings for use as seat bolt covers.
