How To Make Your Own Incense
Ingredients:
One tsp gum arabic
8 oz warm water
6 tbsp powdered sandalwood
2 tbsp ground benzoin
1 tbsp ground orrisroot
Scented oils
1.5 tbsp myrrh
2 tbsp powdered sandalwood
1/2 tbsp eucalyptus
Lemon oil
1. Apply gloves

2. Put one teaspoon of gum arabic in 8 oz. of warm water and mix it thoroughly. It should become a thick paste like oatmeal. If the paste is too dry, add more water a little at a time until it is right.

3. Cover the paste with a hot, wet dishcloth and set it aside.

4. Make the base for the incense by blending 6 tablespoons of powered sandalwood, 2 tablespoons of ground benzoin, and 1 tablespoon of ground orrisroot.

5. Use an eyedropper and add about 6 drops of the scented oils of your choice in any combination.

6. Mix the oils thoroughly into the base

7. Add 1 1/2tablespoons of myrrh, 2 tablespoons of sandalwood, 1/2 tablespoons of eucalyptus, and 3 drops of lemon oil to form a fine, powdery mixture.

8. Use a kitchen scale to weigh the incense

9. Add 10% of that weight in saltpeter (potassium nitrate)

10. Mix in the saltpeter completely

11. If the paste has thickend while sitting, stir in a little more water

12. Add this paste a little at a time until the powder is thoroughly dampened.

13. Dip the sticks into the mixture. It will take several dippings to get the right thickness. You'll need to let each layer dry before adding the next one.

14. Let the incense dry for at least 5 days in a warm dry place.
