Old Edwardians Cricket Club
Moseley Ashfield v Old Edwardians
Birmingham & District Premier League - Division Two (East) - 2nd XIs
Ashfield Park, Yardley Wood Road, Birmingham, 18 May 2002
Result: Old Edwardians 2nd XI won by three wickets.
Toss: Old Edwardians elected to field.
Another dramatic league win was sealed when Preston Fletcher hit a lofted
four. This completed a match spoiled by an unfortunate incident when Terry
Dean was run out backing up by the opposition captain.
This incident overshadowed an exciting game, in which the bowling dominated
the batting. Preston Fletcher and Gurjit Bhogal bowled tightly to limit
Moseley Ashfield to 122 from 50 overs. Terry Dean, Rick Sheppard and Neil
Chandler batted carefully to allow Preston the opportunity for his usual
heriocs. Unfortunately, Gurjit was injured attempting a second run and may
out for some time.
Given the unhealthy atmosphere which developed late in the game, it was
particularly satisfying to win this game.
