Marais Erasmus and family
Marais and Adele
Chris and Geo
Marais has recently written to Frank and Chris Jones, who have passed on
the following news:
The Erasmus family are all well and living in Die Swartland near Cape Town. The
boys, who are now four and a half, are now at playschool and, as the above photo
(taken in March 2001) shows, are "developing beautifully" (to quote Marais).
Marais retired from cricket in March 2000 and started umpiring in September
2001. After his first season in the highest club competition in the Boland
province, he had the best marks in the captain's reports. He has recently sat
his umpiring exams and is awaiting the result. He is hoping to get onto the
National Emerging Umpires Panel, which will allow him to umpire provincial 2nd
XI and Under 19 matches. One day, he hopes to umpire a Test Match at Lord's.
Both Marais and Adele are enjoying their work at their school, and they all
hope to visit England when the boys are a bit older.
