| John FitzHerbert and the Christian Cowboys I guess I started playing guitar and singing in the 50s I played with several different bar bands but mostly with Ed Preston and his band, Delta West. Jesus came into my life in 1967, so I quit the bar scene but didnt play much at all because guitars didnt fit in the church I attended. In 1978 I helped form the Fellowship of Christian Cowboys in Canada and started playing at rodeos and other agriculture-related events putting on Cowboy Church. Shortly after this, I formed and led the Christian Cowboy band consisting of lead guitar, steel, fiddle, bass and drums. I always played rhythm guitar and sang lead. It was always my desire to have this kind of a country sound and it was wonderful; however, I found it hard to keep it all together so after a few years I cut back to just one or two musicians. I have traveled through Western Canada and some of the Western states of the USA, singing, playing and preaching the Word. I never considered myself to be a very good singer or musician, but with Gods anointing people seem to like it and I enjoy doing it. |
