About the Coat of Arms

A coat of arms is a unique design that was traditionally used by Europeans that belonged to a particular person or group of people and was used in a wide variety of ways usually for identification purposes. A coat of arms or family crest has long been a symbol of a familys values. They were originally used to identify warriors dressed in armor, each knight chose symbols and colors to distinguish himself. These traditional coats of arms have been passed down throughout generations; however, most of us do not claim to have any direct connection with these European ancestors. Therefore, the symbols of old are not trully representative of who our family is today. The art of designing, displaying, describing, and recording arms is called heraldry. There are common coat of arms that are representative of our Jones and Reeves names but of course they are enfluenced by European culture and values. Because we are African Americans, and our history is uniquely different than those of our European namesakes, our coat of arms incorporates elements of both traditional coat of arms as well as Christian, Black American, and African symbols. It is with great honor that we design our coat of arms in our own image and for our own interests.

PLEASE CHECK BACK SOON, OUR COAT OF ARMS IS BEING CUSTOM-DESIGNED BY ONE OF THE ARTISANS OF OUR FAMILY.
