He was married to Elizabeth Osborn about 1846. He was divorced from Elizabeth Osborn in 1887. Divorced her husband on grounds of desertion with the hope of a claim on his property. But by the time the divorce was finalized in 1887, he had sold the property to her brother, John P. Osborn in 1882. Attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Then moved to Baughman or "Turkey Creek" (Knox Co.). Subsequently died from injuries received in a fall into Ava's basement on 21 September 1941, Turkey Creek.
