Born on August 13, 1912 in Bell-ville, Washington, she was the daughter of James and Bessie (Latham) Davenport.

She graduated from Burlington High School in 1930.

On June 5, 1933, she was united in marriage to Gay Houser in Burlington. Ruby and Gay were dairy farmers in Blanchard for fifty years.

She was very active in her community as a member of Blanchard United Methodist church, and a 4-H leader.

Her hobbies and interests included writing poems, and telling stories to children.

Survivors include her husband, Gay of Mount Vernon, two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Marva Houser of North Bend, Dennis and Bettye Houser of Bow; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Michael Gale of Monroe, Ethel and Andy Ploeg of Burlington; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were parents; three borthers; Charles, Lloyd, and William; and two sisters: Mamie Johnson and Ruth Hatley.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 28, 2001 from 9:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Hulbush Funeral Home, Burlington.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2001 at Bow Cemetery. A reception will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Allen-Blanchard United Methodist Church, 16775 Allen West Road, Bow.

Remembranves are suggested to the Allen-Blanchard United Methodist Church, 16775 Allen West Road, Bow, WA 98232.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hulbush Funeral home, Burlington.
