EIGHTH GENERATION

248. James Alexander Latham was born about 1757. He died about 1830 in Ashe Co., North Carolina. He signed a will about 1833 in Ashe Co., North Carolina. According to The Long Latham Trek, by Carolyn D. Wallin, page 62:

The last will and testament of Alexander Latham and in the name of God amen. I Alexander Latham of the County of Ashe and State of North
Carolina, a farmer being weak and low in body but perfect in mind and memory thanks be to God for his blessings calling unto mind the
mortality of anybody and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say
hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body recommit to the earth to be buried a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors
doubting __ art the resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and touching such worldly wherewith it has pleased
God to Bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of in the following manner and form.

First I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Latham my beloved wife all my property during her life, that is to say my home plantation and all the
lands adjoining to hold and possess during her life and after her death, to be my son Silas Latham property to every entere and I prupose as to
my personal estate I give it all to my beloved wife Elizabeth to dispose of as she thinks proper amongst six children that is to say John, Silas,
Aaron, Lydia, Nancy, and Susannah. I also do appoint constitute make ordain my will beloved sons Jno. Latham and Silas Latham my executors
of this my last will and testament all singular I do hereby utterly and diallow, revoke and disan__ all and ____ other former testament. Ratifying
and confirming this as no other to be my last will and testatament in witness which of I have reverence set my hand and seal this 5th day of
August, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-three, signed, sealed, publish, and pronounced and declared by the said Alex Latham as his
last will and testament in the presence of us who in his ____ and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names.

249. Elizabeth "Betty" Ellsberry was born between 1750 and 1759 in Holland. Children were:

child ii. Silas Latham was born about 1797. He signed a will on 13 Mar 1872 in Ashe Co., North Carolina. According to The Long Latham Trek, by Carolyn D. Wallin, page 71; transcription of will as follows:

I Silas Latham considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say I give and bequeath unto my nephew James Latham all of my lands and tenement situated and lying on North Fork of New River and bounded by the lands of George Price and Nancy Gilly, Samuel C. Jones and the river. I do further give and devise unto said James Latham all of my freehold estate whatsoever also all of my personal estate goods and chattels of what kind and nature soever to hold to him the said James Latham his heirs and assigns for ever I hereby appoint James Latham sole executor of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this the thirteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy two.

The above instrument consisting of one sheet was now here subscribed by Silas Latham the testor to presence of each of us and was at the same time declared by him to be his last will and testament and we at his request signed our names sureto as attesting witnesses.
