Prayer of the Children

"Can you hear the prayer of the children?"
*A close up of a young Jessie her head bowed, eyes
tightly shut, her hands clasped in prayer.*

"On bended knee, in the shadow of an unknown room"
*Camera Zooms out to show she is kneeling at her
bedside in a darkened room.*

"Empty eyes with no more tears to cry"
*Her cheeks are streaked with tears, but no more come
from her eyes.*

"Turning heavenward toward the light"
*She opens her eyes and looks up.*

"Cry Jesus help me to see the morning light of one
more day"
*Race in I-1 gear standing at a corner with a cocked
gun.*

"But if I should die before I wake I pray my soul to
take"
*Race closes his eyes as if to say a prayer, then
turns the corner gun blazing.*

"Can you feel the hearts of the children?"
*A very scared and still young Jessie lays on a padded
table while a doctor probes her chest with a
stethoscope.*

"Aching for hope, for something of their very own"
*Estelle looks very worried as she holds her daughters
hand.*

"Reaching hands with nothing to hold on to"
*Jessie is now sleeping in a hospital bed and wakes up
to find herself alone.*

"But hope for a better day, a better day"
*She closes her eyes her bottom lip quivering as if
she will cry, but she doesn't.*

"Cry Jesus help me to feel the love again in my own
land"
*The doctor is talking to a very desperate Estelle
shaking his head with an apologetic look on his face.*

"But if unknown roads lead away from home"
*Race walking toward the Compound with a bag slung
over his shoulder.*

"Give me loving arms away from harm"
*The door of the Compound opens to reveal Dr. Quest
with his young son.  Dr. Quest forces a smile as he
greets Race.  Jonny gives a small smile from behind
his father.*

(Musical break)
*Race shows a picture of Jessie to Jonny as he tells
the boy about his "other family."*

"Angry Gods preach a gospel full of hate"
*Ezekiel Rage holds the Book of Rage over his head.*

"The blood of the innocent on their hands"
*Rage firing an Uzi into a crowd.*

"Cry Jesus-help me to feel the sun again upon my face"
*Rage donning his mask.*

"For when darkness clears I know you're near"
*A door opens shedding light onto a Jessie laying on
the floor in the fetal position.  The light causes her
to uncurl from the ball she is in and look up.*

"Bringing peace again"
*She smiles, rises and hugs her father.*

"Dolly-choy-ita"^
*Jessie meeting Hadji and Jonny for the first time.*

"Svey-yea-chet-bour-it-fey"^
*She says something, but neither boys understand her.*

"Can you hear the prayer of the children?"
*Scene from beginning of Jessie's praying.*
