Junkyard Dawg Written and Performed by: The Standards "On the Corner of town 'bout 42nd and main" *Night: The camera moves down a sidewalk, no one in sight.* "Behind a fence, on a pile there lives a Junk Yard Dog" *The camera looks into the window of an apartment building to show Race in a dilapidated apartment.* "See him in da morning" *Race stands on the corner smoking a cigarette trying to seem inconspicuous.* "See him every night" *Same scene at night.* "Struttin' down the alley" *Race looks around himself and drops his cigarette onto the pavement grinding it under his heel.* "Looking for a fight" *Race is suddenly jumped and then the scene fades to black.* "Bout midnight you will hear him" *Scene fades in to show the front hall of the compound. A young Jonny and Hadji come running to hug the legs of Race and Dr. Quest.* "Braggin' to the gang" *Race is sitting on the couch with Jonny and Hadji on either side of him listening to him intently.* "Telling all the stories" *Jonny and Hadji beg Race to tell them another story.* "Bout how he earned his fame" *Race smiles and laughs at their enthusiasm and then proceeds to tell them another story.* "Cause I'm the meanest" Background: "He's the meanest" *Race stands with his feet slightly apart and his arms folded over his chest. At twelve years of age Jonny and Hadji stand behind smiling at him.* "Yeah I'm the roughest" Background: "He's the roughest" *Same scene as before.* "I'm the biggest, baddest dog in town" *Camera pulls back to show Jessie and Dr. Quest laughing and rolling their eyes at the trio.* "I ain't no weenie" Background: "He ain't no weenie" *Race faces off with a bigger opponent.* "I'm just a meanie" Background: "Just a meanie" *They tackle each other going off screen.* "So all you little doggies turn around" *Race stands with his foot perched on the top of the man's chest and his arms once again folded across his chest.* "Well he wears a spike-ed collar" *Race stands at a corner waiting in ambush.* "Around his mangy neck" *Someone comes behind him and tries to choke him with a length of wire.* "He sits on a top his junk pile" *Race, dusting his hands off, stands behind a pile of men.* "Raisin' loads of heck" *Race surrounded by men who all attack at once.* "One day at on the Boardwalk" *Race walking on a boardwalk.* "Hanging with his pals" The camera pulls back to show he is alone.* "They turned around the corner" *Race begins to whistle to himself.* "And ran into some gals" *He turns a corner and runs into a red haired woman.* Spoken: "Hey baby what's your name?" *Race apologizes to the woman then asks her her name.* "My name's Fifi, but you can call me whatever you want big boy." *She looks at him suspiciously, but with a twinkle in her eye and tells him.* "Well what are the chances of you and me getting' together?" *Race asks the woman out.* "I'd say the chances are pretty good Mr. Junk Yard Dog." *Laughing the woman agrees.* "Now you see him in the backyard flowers everywhere" *Race comes out of a tent the jungle as a backdrop.* "That female pup has changed him" *The woman, Estelle, comes out behind him, her stomach bulging.* "Now the term being in the dog house…" *Race is pacing in a waiting room.* "Has become reality for the junk yard" *A nurse enters to tell him his now the proud father of a beautiful baby girl.* Sung: "No more spike-ed collars" *Shot of Race's back.* "No more dirty fights" *Camera slowly begins to pan around Race.* "No more shady alleys" *His arms are moving as the camera continues to pan around him.* "No more sleepless nights" *Race turns to show he has a bottle in his hand, which he carries with him as he walks along.* "Now he's waitin' for the paper" *Race comes out of the front door of a house carrying an infant Jessie in his arms.* "Sittin' in the yard" *He sits in a chair on the porch and begins to feed his daughter.* "He lets the mailman pet him" *A mail truck slows to a stop waves to Race, deposits some mail in the mail box, then drives away.* "He's not allowed to bark" *Estelle puts a hand on Race's shoulder stopping him from entering a fight as Policemen enter the scene.* "This has been the story" *Scene from before of Race telling stories to Hadji and Jonny. However, Jonny and Hadji are now asleep.* "About our mighty friend" *Race smiles softly as he thinks of his past days.* "And how his reign of terror" *He digs his thumb and forefinger into the breast pocket of his shirt…* "Found an ironic end" *And pulls out a picture of Jessie and gazes at it as the screen fades to black.*
