Cortez's Collection Jessie stood waiting at the corner of 34th and Cherry Tree. She had gone shopping and Jonny had told her to meet him there at seven-thirty. She knew he had something planned for their birthday, which was tomorrow. She looked at her watch. It read seven-thirty-two. Jessie huffed. She slipped off the shiny black jacket she wore over the sleeveless white dress she had bought earlier that day and slipped it into one of the shopping bags. She had only two not being a big shopper. Jess9e smiled as she thought of the present she had for him at the hotel. It was a new watch fixed up with some extra gadgets. Some of them she had copied from his old watch, but some of them were knew things that she had come up with on her own. She checked her own watch again as two men in suits and sports coats crossed the street toward where she was waiting. It was now seven-thirty-five. "Excuse me, can you tell me where Jared Cortez lives?" one of the men in sports coats asked. "Sorry, I'm here on vacation," Jessie apologized shrugging her shoulders. "Well, would you like to find out?" the other one asked pulling a white cloth out of his pocket. He covered her nose and mouth with it. Jessie recognized the smell of chloroform on it. She struggled trying to get away, but the man was too strong. Finally the chloroform over took her and she blacked out. The man put the cloth back in his pocket as the other caught Jessie before she hit the sidewalk. Then the man who had chloroformed her picked her up and put her in the back of a red van where women the same age were already crammed. "That's enough, Vic," the smaller man said. They climbed into the van and drove away just as Jonny was pulling up. "I think Mr. Cortez will be happy with the selection, Ernie," Vic said checking the back of the van in the rearview mirror. JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB Jonny climbed out of his red car. It wasn't like Race's, but it wasn't a total junk heap either. He looked around and saw nobody. He spotted the two shopping bags and a black purse lying on the ground beside them. He went and crouched beside them. He picked the purse up, opened it, and began searching for some kind of I.D. He found a wallet and pulled it out. When he saw a driver's license with Jessie's smiling face on it he gasped. Jonny dropped the purse and walked into the café that was on the corner. He walked up to the serving counter. "May I help you?" the woman behind it asked cheerily. "Yeah, has this girl come in here?" he asked holding up Jessie's license. "Nope sorry," the woman said apologetically. Jonny frowned. He looked around the almost deserted café in vain. All he saw was a group of teens in one of the booths. Jonny exhaled, then left the café. He waited for an hour for Jessie to show up, but she never did. Finally, Jonny picked up her purse and shopping bags and put them in the passenger's seat of his car. Then he got into the other side and reluctantly drove away. JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB Jessie awoke and saw she was no longer at the street corner waiting for Jonny and the two goons were nowhere in sight. Jessie sat up and looked around the concrete and white washed brick room. She saw other girls chatting nervously or keeping to themselves. She sat up and dusted herself off. "Where are we?" she asked no one in particular. "Who knows," one of the girls answered. Jessie sat down on one of the crowded benches that were lining the wall. She pulled her hands through her hair and looked around again. Most the girls there were about her age though some could be older. They were mostly blondes and brunettes. Jesse realized she was the only redhead. The door at one end of the room opened and the two creeps from earlier came in loaded down with combs and brushes. They began to hand them out. When the smaller one got to Jessie and tried to hand her a comb she just glared at him. The man quickly dropped it in her lap and moved on. When the men left some of the girls were already grooming themselves. Soon everybody followed. Jessie combed her hair until it shone. She looked around for a mirror, but there was none. Jesse set down the comb when Ernie and Vic came back in. They went around collecting some of the girls. Ernie tried to grab her, but Jessie wouldn't go. He motioned for Vic to help him. Vic grabbed Jessie and this time she couldn't pull away. All in all they grabbed about a dozen girls. They were led out of the room and into a more inviting room. Vic took one of the blond girls and escorted her out of the room. She was returned half an hour later and another girl was taken. This went on until finally the last girl was taken. This just happened to be Jessie. Vic tried to grab her, but she fought back. However, when he pulled out his gun Jessie knew she had to cooperate. She let him push her down the hall toward the open door at the end. When they got to the door though she wouldn't budge. She saw a very plush room that seemed to have everything. A young Hispanic man who looked to be in his mid-twenties sat in an over stuffed leather chair behind a wood desk. Jesse knew he must be Jared Cortez. He took a sip of his alcohol and then motioned for her to come in. Still, Jessie didn't budge. When Vic tried to force her she struggled against him. Finally he gave her one powerful shove. She was sent sprawling to the floor, her fiery hair tumbling everywhere. Her hair was what Mr. Cortez first noticed. It enchanted him. He got up and helped Jessie up. And he looked into her emerald eyes and fell in love with them. "Victor, what have I told you about the treatment of the girls?" Jared asked in his Mexican accent his eyes still locked with Jessie's. "Sorry," Victor apologized. "Now leave us," he ordered. Vic left the room, closing the door behind him. "I'm sorry for his- " Jared began. "What is it you want, Mr. Cortez?" Jessie cut in with acid in her voice. "Ooh, an attitude to match the hair," Jared commented obviously pleased. "What do you want?" Jessie demanded again. "What is your name?" Jared answered. Jessie looked at him. She narrowed her eyes and followed him with them when he sat down behind the desk again. Cortez patiently waited. "Jessie," she finally answered. "Your full name," Jared clarified. "Jessica Marie Bannon," she said. "Your father is famous," he commented. "You're telling me," Jessie breathed. "Although I've never had a chance to meet him. Don't even know what he looks like," Jared continued. "But, you will be a wonderful addition to my collection. In fact, I think I will make you the main attraction," Jared thought aloud. "What are you talking about?" Jessie asked suspiciously. "I was running low on girls. I needed to re-supply," Jared explained to Jessie. "And you plan to show us off like floats in a parade," Jessie concluded. "More or less, yes, until you are sold," Jared confirmed. "I don't think so, I'm leaving," Jessie said turning and walking toward the door. "I'm afraid you don't have a choice. And even if you did try to leave you wouldn't get very far," Jared warned. Jessie kept heading for the door. Jared pushed a button attached to the under side of his desk. Jessie was about to grab the doorknob when the door opened startling her. She gasped and moved back a step. Four huge men blocked her way. She turned around and faced Jared Cortez. The expression on her face was full of anger. Jared just laughed and ordered the men to take her and the others he had chosen. Jessie found herself in a black limo with three of the other girls. She wondered what had happened to the rest. She was jerked forward as the vehicle started. The other girls seemed to be afraid. They kept to themselves, avoiding everything and everyone. Jessie wondered what scared them so much. "Why are you so frightened?" she asked them. "Have you never heard of Jared Cortez?" a girl with rich, brown hair asked her. "Sorry, I'm just hear on vacation," Jessie explained. The girls looked at each other and shook their heads. "Why should I be afraid of Cortez?" Jesse demanded. "He sells women on the Black Market. In the last year he has raised his status to join the other major crime rings," one of the two blond girls answered. It was very elaborate and stylish. It disgusted Jessie. They were led through the house. Every now and again they would see a servant or another girl who had been kidnapped and forced into this life just as was being done to them. They went up a flight of stairs and Jessie was separated from the rest of the girls who were led up another flight of stairs. She wondered what made her so special, then remembered something Cortez had said. I think I will make you my main attraction, echoed in her head. She was jarred out of her reverie when she was pushed into a room and the door was slammed behind her. She tried the knob, but the door had been locked just as she had expected. Jessie turned her back to the door and inspected the room. It had been done in black and white. She went to the closet and opened it. There was a TV, V.C.R, cable box, radio, and CD player. She closed the doors and checked out the dresser. It had a false front. It opened like a cabinet. Inside were CD's and tapes. Jesse closed the doors and stood up then walked toward another door. She stuck her head in and flipped on a light and saw a full bathroom. She stepped in, and looked around. While she was there she might as well take a shower. Jessie undressed and wrapped a towel around herself. She dropped her dress and under things on the bed. Then she went back into the bathroom and quickly showered. She toweled off and once again wrapped the towel around herself. She peeked her head out of the bathroom. Seeing the room was empty she came out and headed toward the bed. She saw clean under things and a silky nightgown. Quickly she dressed. Jessie was tired out so she pulled back the covers on the bed and slipped under them. She thought of her family and cried her self to sleep. Disclaimer: I don't own any of the JQ-niverse or any of it's affiliates. I do own Jared Cortez (the baddie) so you have to ask my permission if you want to use him. Cortez's Collection Jessie woke up and was surprised for a moment that she wasn't in her hotel room. Then, she remembered the night before and her surprise left her. She saw something hanging on one of the posts of the bed and got up to see what it was. It was a black dress with white flowers that had gold middles, which went around the front in an empress waist. Jessie sighed, slipped the nightgown off, and pulled the dress on over her head. It was very short and sleeveless. Jessie tugged at it. She felt uncomfortable in such a short dress. She slipped the black leather sandals on her feet that she found on the floor. She went to the dresser to comb her hair. She found a note on it. Marie, I'm glad to see you've adjusted well. I hope you like it here. We have a breakfast date with a man named Robert Peterson. He'll be here at nine, so be ready by then. Yours truly, Jared Cortez Jessie crumpled up the note disgusted by it and threw it away. She picked up the comb lying on the dresser and pulled it through her hair. Just as she was laying it back down she heard a knock on the door. Then she heard it unlock and the knob being turned. She spun around and watched Jared slip into the room. He looked at her and his eyes sparkled. He smiled with perfect white teeth. "Shall we go?" he asked extending her arm. Jessie watched him, but she took his arm reluctantly. "You look stunning," he complimented. Jessie didn't respond. Jared escorted her down the stairs through the living room out some French doors and onto the back patio. Jessie about fainted when she saw who was sitting at the table under the pastel umbrella. She let Jared escort her to a seat by Robert Peterson. Jessie looked at him, smiled, and wondered what her father was doing here. She could tell he was as surprised as she was. "Mr. Peterson, this is Marie," Jared introduced her. "Marie, Robert Peterson." Jessie shook her father's hand. "It's nice to meet you, and please call me Robert," he said as if this was the first time they'd met. Jessie'd thought he was going to say, "…call me Race." "Thank you," she said. "I can't believe this. It's so hard to find good help these days," Jared apologized. "I'll go see what is taking the food so long." Jared got up and walked into the house. "What are you doing here?" Race immediately asked his daughter when Cortez was out of earshot. "I was just going to ask you the same thing, Mr. Peterson," Jessie answered. "I asked first," Race said. "I was forced. I'm a prisoner. Last night while waiting for Jonny I was approached by two men who turned out to be a couple of Cortez's guys. Cortez was getting low on girls and needed a new supply. Lucky me I got picked for the job as the one that gets to go with him everywhere. The main show piece," Jessie explained. "Now what about you?" "I'm here for the agency," Race sighed. "How did they hook you into this one?" Jesse asked. "I not sure, but I'm glad I accepted now," he said. "Don't worry, I'll get you out as soon as possible." "I know, and I can't wait to get out of here," Jesse replied. At that moment the French doors were opened and footsteps were heard. "So where did you say you were from?" Jessie asked as if they were having a conversation. "Chicago, and you?" Race returned. "Maine," Jessie answered. "It's nice to see you two getting along," Jared said as a maid set down food before them. Race took a bite of his food. "This is quite good, my compliments to the chef," he said. For the rest of the meal Jessie ate as Jared and her father talked about this and that, nothing important. JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB JQ JB When Jessie had entered her room after breakfast she had found a white bikini on the bed and a pastel colored nylon square. Jessie reluctantly dressed in the skimpy suit. She tied the nylon square around her waist with the not at the side. Jessie looked at her self in the mirror. She felt naked and the piece of nylon didn't help. She'd never been one to wear skimpy, showy clothing, bathing suits included. The only bathing suits Jessie had ever worn were conservative one pieces. Jessie turned at the sound of the door being opened and expected to see Jared again. Instead, there was a younger man just as handsome as Cortez who looked somewhat like Jessie's captor. He extended his arm to her. "My name is Tony and I'm your escort to the pool side where Mr. Cortez and his guest are waiting for you," the man explained while letting his eyes take a lazy look at her body. She fought back both the urge to vomit and the urge to start beating on the guy. She accepted his arm and let him lead her through the house, out the French doors, onto the patio where she'd eaten breakfast with her father and further back to the poolside. Tony bowed as Jesse situated herself in the chaise lawn chair a towel all ready draped over the back. Next to her was an empty patio chair, then her father. She pulled the white sunglasses onto the top of her head. "How are you doing, Jessie?" Race asked. "Fine. How about you?" Jessie answered. "I'll survive," he answered. "Was breakfast enjoyable?" Jared asked approaching father and daughter and taking the empty chair. "In fact it was," Race answered. "Marie, why don't you go for a swim? Mr. Peterson and I have some business to talk about," Jared ordered. Jessie got up and untied the nylon cloth square from around her waist. She walked to the pool and sat down beside it, letting her feet dangle in. She turned and looked over her shoulder at Jared and her father. They were already busily talking. She turned back around and slipped into the pool. The water was cold, but she knew she would get used to it. She waded over to a group of girls and joined them. "Hi," she said boldly. Then her eyes went wide as she recognized one of the girls. "Amanda, Amanda Flint?" Jessie asked unbelieving. "Yeah Jessie, it's me," she answered softly. "How long have you been here?" Jessie asked. "About two months," she answered. "You two know each other?" a blonde hair girl asked them. "Yes, Amy, " Amanda answered. "We're best friends, have been since we met at the age of fourteen," Jessie explained. "How'd they get you?" another girl asked. "I'm here on vacation with my family," Jessie answered. "You know, if we had Iesha, Marie and Artesha this would be a Pesh rerun," Amanda laughed. "What the heck are you talking about?" asked a sandy haired girl. "About four years ago we were both kidnapped by one of the guys our father's, who are ex-Intelligence 1 agents, stopped from committing any more crimes. His name was Pesh and he had sworn to keep us until our fathers were dead," Jessie explained. "It was Jessie who got us out," Amanda added. "And now I wouldn't be surprised if she did it again. " "I might have a little help from my dad," Jessie said pointing to where Race and Jared were still talking. "What's he doing here?" Amanda asked surprised. "He's here for I-1," Jessie explained. "I though he'd quit," Amanda said. "He did. I don't know why he agreed to do this," Jessie explained. "I bet he was surprised," Amy commented. Of course he was," Jessie confirmed. And suddenly someone was putting their arms around Jesse's waist. He lifted her up and stepped back a few steps. Tony set her back down and she turned around to face him. "What do you want?" Jessie asked disgusted. "You," he said with a suave smile. "Tony, leave her alone," Amanda ordered. "Why?" he asked. "Because she's Jared's main girl and he'll hurt you if you don't," a girl named Julia said. Jessie watched him. She had her hands pushing against his chest, trying to get out of his hold on her. He pulled her closer. "So, she's worth it," he said. "If you don't let me go, I'll hurt you," Jessie whispered. "Oh, please do," he challenged. Jessie hooked her leg around his and tripped him. She put her hands on his shoulders and pushed him the rest of the way under water. He came up coughing and gagging. Then to her surprise he smiled at her. "Playing hard to get are we?" he teased. "No, I'm playing 'You don't touch'," Jessie explained before she turned around and rejoined the group. She felt almost immediately Tony's arms going around her waist again. Jessie elbowed him in the stomach with all her might. Tony keeled over in pain and groaned. Jessie smiled. "That's Tony, Jared's dead sister's son. She made him promise to take care of him on her deathbed. Now Tony thinks he owns every girl in the place," a tall girl explained. Jessie turned and watched Tony walk up the pool steps in pain. He looked back at her and smiled. Jessie rolled her eyes. Tony walked the rest of the way out of the pool. Jared pulled him aside as he was passing. He whispered something in his ear. Tony walked off mad. Then Jared motioned for her. "I better go," Jessie said apologetically. "We understand," Amanda assured. Jessie waded toward the steps and up them. She walked to her lawn chair where her father handed her a towel. Jessie took it with a warm smile and patted herself dry. "Why don't you go up to your room and change," Jared suggested. Jessie grabbed the sunglasses and nylon cloth and said farewell to both men. She tied the nylon square around her waist as she walked to the house. Once inside she was surprised by Tony once again. "You haven't learned yet, have you?" Jessie asked unbelieving. "I can't stay away from you, Marie," he answered. "Learn to." Jessie tried to walk past, but Tony wouldn't let her. "You're asking for it," Jessie warned. "You bet I am," Tony assured. Jessie grabbed the hand that Tony was using to anchor her. She yanked it loose and twisted it around his back. He groaned in pain again. Jessie pushed him down to the floor and knelt on him. She twisted the arm even harder. His face contorted with pain. "I warned you," she said dead serious. "Let me go," Tony pleaded. "You promise to leave me alone?" Jessie asked. "I promise, now let me up," Tony about yelled. Jessie got up and watched Tony get up cautiously. He looked at her and Jessie expected him to smile. Instead he scowled at her. She walked away from him with a satisfied smile spreading across her face. She had a feeling that he would leave her be.
