Overview:

Nottingham by Twilight is designed to fit into any V:tM / M:tA chronicle,

although it is obviously set in England. It is also designed as a primarily

HUNTERS HUNTED chronicle.

Nottingham is the largest city in the East Midlands. It is the county city

of Nottinghamshire. As a city, its population numbers around 250,000. There are

two universities, one catholic cathedral and several hospitals / clinics,

including the Queens Medical Centre, which is a major teaching hospital and

genetic research establishment.

Major routes into the city: the M1 motorway, the A52 to Derby, the A610 to

Ripley, the A453 to B'ham. There is a railway station, but Nottingham is

not on a main intercity route, all trains travel to Derby before continuing.

Nottinghamshire is a rural county, although it is more industrialised than

its neighbours in the West and East, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire. There is

a strong feeling of county identity, much the same as in its neighbours.

There is a large percentage of minorities in both the county and city, making

the region seem very cosmopolitan. Racial tension is not as pronounced as with

more southerly counties / cities. However, the border between Nottinghamshire

and Derbyshire is highly racist, and the UK headquarters of the KKK is situated

in Mansfield. The right wing British Nationalist Party is highly prominent along

the border, especially in the towns of Ilkeston, Sutton-In-Ashfield, Kirkby-In

Ashfield, Selston and Pinxton.

/*----------------------------------------the following is for STs only

As intimated earlier, Nottingham is a friendly place. Its people are generally

happy with their lot. This is a result mainly because of the heavy Technomancer

influence here. The presence of two universities means that the city has a high

science base, as demonstrated by the fact that IBM and Boots have headquarters

here. Also, Nott'm university proper is home to some of the greatest authorities

on genetic engineering in the world, and for good reason, it is a Progenitor

chantry, disguised. The former Polytechnic, now known as Trent university is

secretly governed by two allies, NWO and I-X.

The gauntlet in the city centre itself is especially strong (treat as downtown

US), and this power is extended along the A52 towards Grantham and Derby.

There is some speculation as to the significance of the A52, or whether it is

mere coincedence that the gauntlet is strong here. Some mages of the Order of

Hermes believe that it is a stream of Quintessence between two powerful nodes.

The Sons of Ether regard this theory as rubbish, and see it as a permenant

correspondance path, enabling the technocracy to travel easily along it.

Whatever the reason, the A52 seems to be a meeting place for mages, the SoE have

established a chantry in secret near the Clifton campus of Trent Uni for one

example.

There are relatively few mages in Nottingham proper. Only those of the

technocracy really have any power. There is one exception however, in the

Golden Bowl chinese restaurant, an Adept of mind has set up his haven.

A coven of Verbenna live and operate around the Major Oak, in Edwinstowe.

The oak is a powerful node of Quintessence, and as such is heavily guarded

by watcher spirits. This coven is the head of all English (not British,

the head coven of all Britain is Welsh) Verbenna chantries.

Werewolves are common in the rural districts, especially around old Sherwood

forest, although the area surrounding the major oak is off limits to them.

[note : i do not have W:tA, so my wolf knowledge is not enough to detail tribes]

There are only three Vampires in the city. Five in the whole county. The reason

for this is the population is so small, and these vampires are very old.

One Gangrel elder, Jacob, (7th Gen, not a prince!) lives in Mapperley, and

confines his hunting to that suburb and the surrounding countryside.

There is a Nosferatu (11th Generation, name unknown) living in the area known as

the Meadows. Sometimes (s)he feeds in the city itself.

Lastly, in the city of Nottingham, is Luke Berridge, a 6th Generation Ventrue,

the Prodigy of Anne of London, and Grandchilde of Mithras, Prince of London.

He is detailed below, and is the focus for the hunters efforts.

/*----------------------------- Luke Berridge, 6th gen Ventrue

Background

Luke was embraced in 1749, aged 42, when he showed extreme promise in politics.

he continued to be involved in British politics until he was started on the path

to Golconda by a member of the Innoccu in the middle of last century. He

eventually found that it was hard to keep to the path in the backstabbing world

of London, so moved north last year to further his studies. He only feed from

Haemophiliacs, which has lead to many deaths in his herd.

He has two ghouls, husband and wife, who now work in the Queens Medical Centre

in Pathology, so as to find new vessels for their master.

/* ----------------------------------

Before People start to hassle about 'Hes a nice bloke' etc, well, yes, he is

basically a 'good' vampire. He doesnt like killing, but is not adverse to it.

After all, he comes from a time when the nobility had rights above the common

man, and exercised those rights whenever they could. He also has the nasty habit

of entering frenzy at any oppurtunity (a major stumbling block to Golconda).

-----------------------------player information

Common Backgrounds and Player Histories.

Into your background I would like you to incorporate the following:

You have recently (in the last year) lost someone to a mysterious

death.

The lost one was a haemophiliac.

The circumstances seemed natural to the authorities but something is

not right to you (you may have seen the act, something left a clue, you

were told by the lost one before they died etc)

You have read news reports and a pattern emerges which leads / centres

on Nottingham.

Possible alternatives are that you are a haemophiliac and have been assaulted

by a vampire.

Also:

Players are HUMAN, NORMAL with one exception, one character _may_ play a

mage if desired, but it will be limited to only four dots in spheres not five.

No ghouls.

The merit of Kindred Lore may not be taken.

Otherwise as for character generation in HH.

Suggested backgrounds:

Resources *** maximum, strongly suggest that at least * is taken.

Influence **** maximum. try to come up with a convincing reason.

Contacts ** maximum

Allies * maximum

Discouraged backgrounds:

Status in undead society

Herd !

Mentor (may be taken, but mentor is another hunter npc)

Fame

Other restrictions:

Guns are NOT easy to get hold of. This is england after all.
