2001
Every year, since 1890, the city of Pasadena (a suburb of Los Angeles) has held the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year's Day. Originally started to show the East Coast how sunny Southern California is even during the winter, the parade has now become a nationally acclaimed performance of amazing floats and superb bands. (For more information, make sure to check out the official Tournament of Roses website.)

This year Optimist International is participating again in the Rose Parade. The theme for this year's floats is "The Fabric of America" and the Optimist float's title is "Young Pioneers". The company designing our float is
Phoenix Decorating Co., as always. Every single volunteer is an Optimist member or an Optimist friend. Most are from the Optimist Youth Homes, various JOOI and Optimist clubs of the Pacific Southwest District, and the Braille Institute. For more information regarding the Optimist International float, check out the OI website or contact the Float Volunteer Coordinators, Craig Singer and Kate Rosloff, at [email protected].
