All Month Standing Sober and Proud The Westchester High octagon Club is holding a "Crusade Against Drug and Alcohol Abuse" from April 23 to the end of May. A committee of seven members are designing posters, signs, and labels (used as stickers) with messages of self-respect, urging fellow teens not to disrupt opportunities to discover the beauty of living by abusing substances. Everyday at lunch red ribbons are being tied to backpacks, wrists, and ankles. Student participation and the way that the crusade has been welcomed so far has been amazing. The flashing of red ribbons on most of the students is a small representation of the many teens who take a stand against self abuse. They are proving to themselves and to the rest of Westchester High that not "everybody is doing it." -Dror Issacci, Westchester Octagon Club President 19-20 PSWD-JOOI Convention See www.geocities.com/jpswd/conv01.html |
