4 Saturday Pre-Year Meeting An informational meeting was held at 3 PM, discussing goals, issues, and topics all advisors and officers must know. The following are minutes from the meeting: - Greeting/Introduction - Information about website: www.geocities.com/jpswd - Gov. Aiala Levy and Sec/Treas. Dror Issacci share JOOI Convention experience -Members encouraged to raise money to attend international convention next year - Fundraising ideas: sell See's Candy at adult quarterly (?) - Raising money for the National Childhood Cancer Foundation International Action Plan and Goals: - Getting publicity - Raising membership -Strengthening ties between Optimist International (OI) and JOOI -Gaining financial independence from JOOI - Raising commitment and volunteer time - Improving communication (is everyone getting "The Torch" and district newsletter "en'-jooi", etc.?) - Possibly setting up a membership minimum to qualify as "club in good standing" District Goals: - Aiding in the million-hour service goal (everyone should be turning in the number of service hours to JOOI) - A website for every club - Financial independence from OI at district and even club level - Signing up for JOOI awards (Honor Club, Community Service Scrapbook Contest, etc.) and showing JOOI that Southern California has got what it takes - Club officer responsibilities (everyone should motivate each other and other members, aid with ideas and organization of projects/fundraisers, etc.) - How to raise membership and member participation (establish a relationship between members and officers, tell others about the fun projects we participate in, etc.) - District officers want to visit clubs to motivate members.
