| Reviews - Please note kind reader, that stars are isssued on a scale of one to ten, also I am only able to review those tobaccos whose names I know. So bulk blends are slowly being added as I discover thier brands and common wholesale names. Names for these are commonly altered by the retailer to help them sell. Because of this I am only able to list a few of the many bulks I have tried. For those looking for such tobacco, I suggest JM Cigar. JMs carries Lane Limited and Peter Stokkebye bulks. They have a HUGE cigar selection and a fair sized pipe section. JM Cigar is, for the most part, my sole tobacco provider. That should say something. Captain Black "Gold" * * * * - gold label - only aged golden cavendash - nice flavor not too harsh Captain Black "Original" * * * * - white label - black cavendash with burley and golden virginia accent - nice flavor smooth, medium rich - I'd reccomend this to a beginner - a little more active than the blue label and not quite as heavy Captain Black "Royal" * * * * * - blue label - black and gold cavendash with vanilla - cool full bodied somewhat wet, very smooth Carter Hall * * * * bites, smokes dry - I think this is mostly burley -light nutty flavor, seems high in nicotine to my judgement CAO/Dan Tobacco "Old Ironsides" * * * * * * * * - a high percentage of Cyprian latakia, with kentucky, oriental and virginias - cake aged, flake cut (read: may need to break it up to get it to burn evenly), tinned, expensive - excellent powerful latakia flavor, very spicey, hints of sweetness - bitey - can't wait to try CAOs other offereings Esoterica "And So To Bed" * * * * * * - virginia, maryland, oriental and latakia - medium bodied, slightly sweet, a little spicey but smooth, no bite - cool smoke, medium moisture, this could use a little more character, but is very easy to smoke Half/Half * * * * * - burley and bright viginia granulated - quite active but not too harsh - kinda minty - when purchased in small box it comes in suction sealed foil - very fresh but not over moist - not a bad smoke, but not really my taste at all Lane Limited "1Q" * * * * * * - Golden cavendash and a little fire cured virginia - a medium bodied natural with good flavor - availible in bulk Peter Stokkebye "Highland Whiskey" * * * * * * - whiskey flavored virginia and cavendash - dominant whiskey flavor over a smooth medium bodied blend - pretty good for an aromatic Peter Stokkebye "Vanilla Cavendash" * * * * * * * - absolutely delightful all black cavendash with vanilla bean extract - very very moist - sublime and lovely smoke - availible in bulk |
