2003 MFFL rules
I. The Setup -- The league will consist of 16 teams this year (with one
dream).
Each team will play a 10-game regular season, followed by a three-game
postseason. All teams will play three games in the postseason, which will
determine both draft status for 2004 as well as the champion.
There will be two divisions of eight teams each. The top four teams in each
division will make the championship playoffs. The bottom four will make the
draft pick playoffs, which means they’re competing for the No. 1 pick in

IV. Rule changes
The rules change period will be before the draft (June
20 start date) ever
year. This year it is scheduled to begin May 20 and end June 10. For a rule
to be changed it requires 60 percent approval from the league. If a rule
needs to be changed or clarified at any other point during the year, the
commissioner reserves the right to make an immediate ruling or call for an
emergency vote as he deems necessary.
V. Entry Fee
The annual entry fee is 20 dollars, and will never be accepted by Pay Pal. Feel
free to send checks to
VI. Trades
Free trading is allowed within the league. However,
when a team trades, they must maintain the standard roster total and position
totals. You also have the right to trade your draft picks 1 year in advance.
The new year begins as soon as the championship ends, therefore after the 2003
championship game, you will have the right to trade your 2005 (the next year)
draft picks.
VII. The starting lineup
The starting lineup consists of 7 players/items. It must have 1 qb, 2 rb, 2 wr,
1 K and 1 D. Starting lineups must be in each week by 12 noon Saturday eastern
time. This deadline does not stretch by 1 minute, whether your name is God or
Kern! Lineups should be sent by email to the entire league. If you submit your
lineup early in the week (a great idea always), you have the right to make
changes to that lineup up until the
Some games will be played on days other than Saturday. If you plan to start
someone from a game like that, you must submit that part of your lineup prior
to kickoff. Our week begins Monday and ends Sunday.
If one of your players does not play due to injury, tsunami, mobsters cutting the power in Vegas, Harrick study buddy program whatever... it is tough shit unless you changed your lineup before the deadline.
Redshirting is our term for replacing a severely
injured player with an undrafted player from the
pool. Redshirting can only occur for injuries that
can be documented by a reputable source (not message board postings) to have a
recovery period of 6 weeks or more. If your player is out because he has a consistenly nagging hammy, problems with algebra, problems
with John Law,
problems with gambling, the coach likes to play his less skilled white senior
etc, it is tough shit. Think before you draft a player that is a known
gun-toting low life, because roster spots taken up by someone who won’t ever
play are very very painful.
The roster moves deadline will always be
A. Ties - During the regular season, a tie score goes in the book as a tie.
During the playoffs, a tie is broken by whichever team had the better regular
season record, then by regular season point total.
B. Tiebreakers - In determining playoff positioning, the tiebreaker wil go as follows: 1) highest point total 2) Best Division
record 3) head-to-head winner 4) comparative results against best other team in
the division 5) coin toss.
C. Jesusass will have a decent regular season but
will not be a factor for the championship.
D. As of right now, you can only draft until you complete your 15 man
roster. BUT you do own all 15 of your draft picks each year, and are free
to trade them up until you complete your roster with the draft.
2003 Amendments
a) The Arun
rule -- Any player who is injured for six weeks or more after the draft is over
must be declared for redshirting within two weeks of
his injury being announced. Any player injured before or during the draft
must be redshirted within two weeks of the end of the
add/drop period.
b) Illegal draft pick trades -- Any time someone trades a draft pick that they
don't technically have, they will lose that same draft pick in the following
year's draft. If they again do not pick that deep into the draft, they
will lose the last pick they do have. Subsequently, they will make their
last pick at the end of the draft.
c) Defensive two-point conversions -- All defensive two point conversions
--regardless of whether or not they occur &llt;ooon an
interception or a blocked extra point, will be worth two points for the defense.
The reasoning being that there's no way to tell the difference in a box score.
2004 Amendment
The final/championship week of the season will now take place over two weeks. Each team will start the same amount of players as any other game, and each player can only start once. Teams will have to differentiate exactly from which game they plan to use their player. The rule is simply to accomodate the fact that many teams play Thanksgiving week and not the week before every year. Subsequently, preseason games played the week before we start can also be used towards the MFFL's week one. The same rules apply.
2005 Amendments
1) For clarification, any individual player who makes an interception or fumble recovery will get credited with points for that, aside from the credit a team defense receives.
2) The yearly entry fee will be raised to $25 per team.
3) Interceptions and fumble recoveries will now be worth two points each (instead of 1) for team defenses or individual players.
